This is a great book. I can't wait to start the 2nd book in this series.

The description is really misleading. The rescue is only a tiny portion at the beginning of the book. The majority of the story revolves around the relationships of the characters and recovery from the early events. It's quite deep and it treats trauma with appropriate sincerity and understanding of its long lasting effects. I'm not a huge fan of memory loss arcs, but this one was done about as well as it can be done so I can't complain about the quality even if it wasn't my favourite thing. I love that a lot of the stupid tropes that force the male lead to always be the hero weren't stuck to too much. It actually felt like a believable (though unlikely) story. I'd definitely recommend it.

The narrator nailed the male voices, but the female voices could definitely use some work or a dual narrator situation. But overall the performance was good.

Great, deep story.
