Publisher's Summary

An Amazon Charts best seller.

From USA Today best-selling author L.J. Shen comes a second-chance romance about love, loss, finding yourself, and getting lost in the right person.

Maddie Goldbloom stitched up a plan to ensure everything in her life was perfect - from a career in fashion to a chic NYC apartment to a pediatrician boyfriend.

When her ex, Chase Black, storms back into her life with an outrageous request, her immediate reaction is to refuse him. But he only wants to fulfill his father’s last wish. So even though he’s the man who broke her heart, playing his fiancée shouldn’t be hard, especially if it means she gets to watch the arrogant devil squirm a bit.

What ensues is a chain of events that detonates Maddie’s life - and when Chase’s walls come down, they both are forced to face reality.

They say keep your enemies close. But what if your enemy is also the man you love?

Has its moments

I was happy enough with this book. The narrators did a good job except for the horrible Scottish accents.

The characters are a little too cliched. The do gooder martyr and the devilish bastard. Nevertheless I did enjoy it enough to ignore my family and finish it in 2 days. I cried at one scene which I thought was well written and I laughed at others. Can’t ask for anything more? Oh wait yes, better Scottish accents!!

Great freaking story!

I wasn't sure what to expect with this book, but it was over my expectations. Solid story and a great listen. The only think I didn't like was Sebastian's Scottish accent. Some times it sounded Russian and others it sounded more Irish. He gave it a good try, but he needs to take a class in UK accents.

abusive jerk

I really wanted to like this book but the characters were awful. if you like your female characters to be complete and utter doormats under the guise of being sweet, positive and caring and your male love interest to be a completely unredeemable, abusive jerk then this book is for you.

I am all for sweet angelic women but her nickname was "martyr Maddie" meaning she did anything and everything to please everyone else. Even in her relationships she went to over the top lengths to appear perfect and act how she though the man in her life would want her to be. (pooping with the shower on she he couldn't hear, pretending toile things she didn't, always being agreeable). Sounds like a robot to me.

I made it to chapter 8 hoping one of them would either grow a heart or a spine but nope nothing and I really just didn't want them to work things out. I did not feel any connection to either character and though I usually love LJ Shen I thought she wrote this book with such over the top extremes that she could not come back from them.

Performance was amazing but story was totally disappointing. will be returning this book.
