Joe Abercrombie is a master of story telling
Joe Abercrombie comes through again! Sift through the endless cookie cutter fantasy stories, the same tale over and over again. Joe Abercrombie and 1 or 2 others can actually tell a good story a really good story. By far and away my favourite author for many years. Great job and I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Abercrombie does it again.
Joe Abercrombie delivers once again with his darkly humourous take on a medieval suicide squad fighting across a Europe wherein Achilles was humbled by Hector and the Trojan horse burned.
Well worth a listen, especially if man-eating elves, viking werewolves and lazily contemptuous vampires appeal to your sensibilities.

Abercrombie and Pacey do not disappoint
If there is a better writer of character in Fantasy I haven’t come across them. If there is a better narrator I haven’t heard them. If there is a more satisfying audiobook experience than the two of them together … well you get the idea.
Starting this book I was nervous and excited in equal measure. Nervous because how could anything live up to the lofty standards that Abercrombie has set with his novels and excited because the possibility that it has.
I was not disappointed. Abercrombie back in form with this book and I’m very pleased to say I enjoyed it as much or more than the his other offerings which I loved. It was amazing!

A solid work of fiction
Look, I found it a bit formulaic but the characters were good and it was well executed and of course well narrated.

Devilishly Good
Joe does it again. I read the first law trilogy ONE time YEARS ago and can still vividly recall each characters name, notable action and even some badass quotes. That is the mark of a master Author. His characters all shine. Every witty comment, every idle banter, every minor action, every intrusive thought has a PURPOSE and balances quite tastefuly with a great sense of humor, even when things are at its darkest Joe can still pull a nervous chuckle outta me. It reads like a Quentin Tarantino fantasy.This book has all the hallmarks of something great. If you even SLIGHTLY enjoy his other books you'll definitely like this one.
The narrator was so good I thought it was multiple people reading untill i checked.
(Edit the book is 25 hours long and ive been listening to it all day...im not finished the book and i dont typically like writing a review until i do but I noticed someone left a review so brain dead i had to write one, and ill be DAMNED if i let this GEM fly under the radar because some sad, humorless,fop cant tell the difference between peak fantasy and a cook book. If i feel differently about my opinion i will edit it upon completion).

Great story but light for Abercrombie
Solid story amazing narrator. But it is not more of the First Law. But is more light hearted in its tale of devils.

it's boring
I'm disappointed. I read everything Abercrombie wrote and enjoyed every book. Devils is plain boring, funny at times, but there is nothing interesting, original or gripping about it. I didn't even finish the book. it's very well read though

For kids.
As the author tries to inject humor he sacrifices the story and characters. The result turns what could be an interesting adult horror/fantasy into a silly fairytale. Oh, well, another credit wasted. Will I ever learn? Meanwhile, narrator is okay.
