Story
Our modern diet, high in low-quality carbohydrates, is damaging our bodies - producing a constant overload of sugar in our bloodstream that clogs up our arteries and piles hidden fat into our internal organs. The result has been a doubling in the number of type 2 diabetics,as well as a surge in those with a potentially hazardous condition - prediabetes. It is now known that even moderately elevated blood sugar levels can trigger heart disease, stroke, dementia, and cancer.

Story
Current medical wisdom advises that anyone suffering from diabetes or prediabetes should eat a low-carbohydrate, high-fat diet. But in this revolutionary audiobook, Cyrus Khambatta, PhD, and Robby Barbaro, MPH, rely on a century of research to show that advice is misguided. While it may improve short-term blood glucose control, such a diet also increases the long-term risk for chronic diseases like cancer, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, chronic kidney disease, and fatty liver disease. The revolutionary solution is to eat a low-fat plant-based whole-food diet.

Publisher's Summary
From acclaimed author Dr. Jason Fung, a revolutionary guide to reversing diabetes.
Dr. Jason Fung forever changed the way we think about obesity with his best-selling book, The Obesity Code. Now he has set out to do the same for type 2 diabetes.
Today, most doctors, dietitians, and even diabetes specialists consider type 2 diabetes to be a chronic and progressive disease - a life sentence with no possibility of parole. But the truth, as Dr. Fung reveals in this paradigm-shifting book, is that type 2 diabetes is reversible. Writing with clear, persuasive language, he explains why conventional treatments that rely on insulin or other blood-glucose-lowering drugs can actually exacerbate the problem, leading to significant weight gain and even heart disease. The only way to treat type 2 diabetes effectively, he argues, is proper dieting and intermittent fasting - not medication.

Compulsory Listening For Anyone Over 21+
Compulsory Listening/Reading for every Doctor, Teacher, Parent, Diabetic, Politician!
Sorry for the long explanation, but I wanted you to know I am a real person with diabetes not an academic writing about the topic.
In 1998, I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. A nurse at the local hospital informed me it was a chronic disease and my only option was to learn how to manage it and try to avoid the progression of the disease as long as possible. It was explained to me that if I was a poor manager, there was a high probability that I could go blind, maybe have a stroke, be unable to travel as I would have to have dialysis three times a week and at the very least if those things didn’t kill me they could do a few amputations – my life could really suck.
In 2016, I was misdiagnosed as a Type 1 Diabetic and during the following year I put on 65 Lbs. injecting insulin. The disease just kept claiming new ground and I just got fatter and fatter. In 2017, I was reclassified as a Type 2 Diabetic by a different specialist (wonderful as being a Type 1 really sucks). In 2018, my brother told me about the IDM Program in Toronto run by Dr. Jason Fung and the clinic director Megan Ramos, who together were reversing the disease in thousands of patients! I have listened to many books on the subject (cover more ground than reading) and find the advice I was getting from my family doctor and specialist were making me sicker.
he Diabetes Code, answers so many of the questions about what has been going on and continues to go on within me. Besides taking a pill to relief the constant burning on the bottom of my feet, or another pill for the burning in my legs or another pill to mask the numbness in my toes, I now have the explanation as to what medical circumstances are causational to these conditions. The book offers a solution that does not mean more insulin, more pills and hours of wasted time waiting to see a doctor who is really an operating arm of big pharma. Let’s face it; diabetics are cash cows to all aspects of the “health industry”.
This book should be a mandatory read/listen to every human being over the age of 21! Rest assured Dr. Fung will not be taking any paid vacations courtesy of any Pharmaceutical interest! If you have Type 2 Diabetes and 7.5 hours to listen to him read his own book, then you will know more about the topic than the person prescribing you all that expensive medicine. Seriously if the prescriber has digested this same information they would not be pouring gasoline on the house to put out the house fire!
Dr. Fung uses the “big words” and at the same time explains it is such a manner that people with no medical background will get the entire picture. If you know anyone with Diabetes, Pre-Diabetes or even your doctor, get this recording or book into their hands so the revolution Dr. Fung is pioneering can take hold worldwide. His online IDM Program’s client base is the smallest in Canada, so there is much work to be done here.
Diabetes is not about lack of exercise, too much sugar or the failed concept of calories in or out, it’s about insulin and once you understand how insulin works in your body you can reverse your diabetes. It is your very own grasp to eat those forbidden treats that you sneak as a diabetic but totally above the table, not hidden in a box in your office or bedroom. Yes, you can eat regular sugar added eat cookies or ice cream again, with no negative physical effect on your body by following his advice which is backed up by numerous studies. When you finish this book listen to the Obesity Code and The Complete Guide To Fasting. Lastly take matters into your own hands! Good luck and we will see you on the other side, the one where the non-diabetics enjoy life to the max. Paul Avis, Ajax ON Canada

This book changed my life course...
This book was a random purchase and I didn't even review the book but I was captured by the title due to my struggle with pre-diabetes. Fast forward a few months and I am down fifteen pounds of weight and my fasting sugars have gone from diabetic to normal. He provided solid evidence and a new understanding of metabolic syndrome and insulin resistance that has really convinced me that we need to change the way we treat type 2 diabetes. He is brilliant and yet speaks in layman's terms to gain an understanding of obesity, our carbohydrate obsessed western way of eating and how to change your life through intermittent fasting. I am about to listen to his book on fasting and looking forward to learning even more about how to continue to change the way I eat and fast and how to ensure I live a very long life diabetes free. #Audible1

Should be required reading for anyone who eats food
Very eye opening. It answers a lot of questions. My doctor diagnosed me as pre-diabetic. I workout and eat well. I was kind of blindsided. I asked him why this happened. His answer was “nobody knows. It sometimes just happens”
This book explains in very simple detail how, why and even when. It gives me great hope. If you eat food, read this book!

Informative if you already know about Diabetes
I have read Dr. Fung's other books and they are fantastic! This one is too sciency for me. He is a really good speaker and if you know about Diabetes or have it, then it would be easier to understand. There was a lot of stuff mentioned I simply had no idea what he was talking about and got lost.
