Publisher's Summary

New York Times best-selling author Carl Weber and Essence best seller La Jill Hunt return with a story of love, betrayal, and racism in the next addition to the wildly popular Family Business series.

From the time he was a boy in Georgia, LC Duncan, patriarch and leader of the Duncan clan, has battled racism. Even now that he and his family are truly successful, the racism can still be in-your-face. Maybe it's the political climate or perhaps it's just bad timing, but LC and the rest of the Duncans are being challenged by the ultimate power-hungry racist, Sheriff KD Shrugs.

Nevada Duncan is at that age when girls and sex are always on his mind. His handsome face and superior intellect attract Kia, the beautiful "Blasian" call girl who tempts him into running away to a place where the Duncans are definitely not wanted - El Paso, Texas, the home of KD Shrugs.

What is the worst thing that can happen to a handsome, rich millennial? Rio Duncan would say it's mistaken identity after being beat down in a nightclub by someone who thinks he's Roman Johnson, a stickup kid who happens to be Rio's doppelganger. What happens next will open up the biggest can of worms the Duncans have ever had to deal with.

Get ready for another roller coaster ride with the Duncan family.

I love the story but...

The narrators are not good. The voice of KD was good but Chippy’s voice should not be that of a young woman. Neither LC or Vegas’ voices were believable. Contact me so I can read for you. I can actually read and know how to pronounce words.

Not worthy of the family business series

This book did not measure up to the previous family series installments. They did not listen to previous readers regarding the poor narrator changes that were made in part 4. The majority of the book was narrated by two new characters instead of the Duncan’s. Vegas came off weaker than his previously no nonsense macho self and his narrator was bad also. Orlando was absent. I love this series so I’ll continue to support but I really hope they get back on track

VERY DISAPPOINTED, I LOVED Family Business Series

I did not like this book at all... The story in this book is so unrealistic, all the other books were based in a bit of reality... this was just fairly tale land. The coincidences were SO CORNY! I wait years on these books to come out, and to receive this, I feel disappointed. Also, the voices are bad, I use to enjoy the fact that you always got so many different voices. This book isn't the best, the storyline wasn't good, not much to even do with the main characters of the family, besides the forced, unrealistic and bad parts of the story.

Great story however the narration was awful

The narration/performance was just awful. Not to standard as previous. So bad I almost did not listen.

Lazy

The writing in this was quite lazy. The continuation of the prevalent Duncan Family’s adventures could have stretched the imagination further than the author choose to.

Another great one

Mr. Weber, you have done it again! This was another great book however the narrators were not consistent and didn't reflect the characters. Chippy sounded like she was 20 years-old, LC didn't sound like the head of the family, Nevada didn't sound like. a teenager, KD didn't always sound like a white bigot; he sometimes sounded like a southern black man, and Consuela sounded like an American, then a Middle Eastern, them Hispanic.
