Publisher's Summary

Jessica Raine stars in all four BBC Radio 4 full-cast dramatisations of John Galsworthy's Forsyte novels.

An irresistible family saga of love, money and betrayal, The Forsytes: The Complete Series encompasses four acclaimed BBC Radio 4 productions of Galsworthy's perennially popular epic, spanning 50 years from 1886 to 1936.

The Forsytes sees wealthy Soames Forsyte questioning his relationship with his beautiful wife, Irene. As evidence of her betrayal emerges, the family is torn apart and scandal unleashed. In The Forsytes Continues, it is 1920 and Soames would do anything for his sparkling daughter, Fleur. But when she falls in love with the wrong man, how can he stop history repeating itself? The Forsytes Returns picks up Fleur's story four years later, as she vows to put her past behind her and settle down. But those around her are intent on stirring up trouble. The Forsytes Concludes introduces young Dinny Cherrell, Fleur's cousin. Unbeknown to both, their lives will be paralleled in ways neither could have predicted....

Starring Jessica Raine, with a cast including Joseph Millson, Juliet Aubrey, Jonathan Bailey, Ben Lambert and Sarah Ridgeway, this compelling drama delves behind the Edwardian façade to reveal Galsworthy's wonderful wit, observation and insight into human nature.

The book I will take to a desert island

This book will capture your soul in such a tight hold. You will laugh, cry and. Find yourself forgiving those you never thought you would. This is a wonderful story. I truly love it. Thank you John Galloway. Thank you Soames and Irene, John and Fluer. It is a story I will always go back to. Always. Please read it, you will love characters you never thought possible, and learn something about yourself in the process.

Absolutely smashing... I loved it!

I've never read Galsworthy's stories nor have I watched the television shows about The Forsytes, so I came in without any preconceived ideas about it. I thought the stories were fantastic and the narrators were brilliant. I happen to love radio dramas and don't find any credits or intros for the various books off-putting. They didn't do credits or intros for every episode, but more for each book/section. It captured my attention so much that I couldn't wait to dive right back in each time I had to put the book down. You became engaged with the characters and cared about them... even if some weren't so lovable.
The only thing I wished was different was having the chapters named for each of the episodes that is listed on BBC Radio 4 website. I am not sure how each of the BBC's sections & episodes corresponded with the books in the saga, but this is how each of the BBC Radio 4 episodes corresponded with this audiobbook's chapter (if any one is interested in this):
A) The Forsytes
Episode 01- Chapter 01
Episode 02- Chapter 02
Episode 03- Chapter 03
Episode 04- Chapter 04
Episode 05- Chapter 05
Episode 06- Chapter 06
Episode 07- Chapter 07

B) The Forsytes Continues
Episode 01- Chapters 08-10
Episode 02- Chapter 11
Episode 03- Chapter 12
Episode 04- Chapter 13
Episode 05- Chapter 14
Episode 06- Chapter 15
Episode 07- Chapters 16-17

C) The Forsytes Returns
Episode 01- Chapter 18-22
Episode 02- Chapter 23
Episode 03- Chapter 24
Episode 04- Chapter 25
Episode 05- Chapter 26
Episode 06- Chapter 27
Episode 07- Chapter 28-30

D) The Forsytes Concludes
Episode 01- Chapter 31
Episode 02- Chapter 32
Episode 03- Chapter 33
Episode 04- Chapter 34
Episode 05- Chapter 35
Episode 06- Chapter 36
Episode 07- Chapter 37
Episode 08- Chapter 38

I most definitely will be reading the book of this saga. I will definitely give this one another listen or two later in the future.
Yes, I do recommend this audiobook collection.

Great story

I have seen both makings of The Forsytes Saga and loved both. This rendition is just as good, I was always sad when I had to turn it off because I wanted to listen more.

Forsytes complete series

I found it frustrating that every chapter had a script for contributors. It broke up the book and was very distracting.
