Publisher's Summary

When a corrupt think tank, The Foundation for a New America, enlists a Taiwanese terrorist to bomb a World Trade Organization conference, the US and China are put on the path to war.

Star journalist Jack Emery is pulled into a story far more dangerous than he could have imagined. Because the Foundation's deputy director, the ruthless Michelle Dominique, recognizes that whoever controls the message controls the world. And she will take control, no matter the price.

Enter Jack's boss, Ernest McDowell, owner and chairman of the largest media empire on the planet. In the midst of political upheaval, EMCorp is about to become the final play in the Foundation's plan. When Dominique traps the EMCorp owner in her web, Jack's the only one left to expose the conspiracy before it's too late.

As the world powers smash each other against the anvil of Taiwan, Jack will risk everything to battle the Foundation and prevent them from taking control amid the devastation of a global war.

The conspiracy theories continue!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

If my friend was into an action/conspiracy theory potboilers, then yes. Otherwise, not so much.

Would you recommend The Foundation to your friends? Why or why not?

As above.

Have you listened to any of Jeffrey Kafer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I don't recall listening to this performer in the past, so I don't have a comparable. That said, it was a solid , and actually strong performance, consistent and realistic.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Unlikely. Not my style.

Any additional comments?

I was provided my copy of this audiobook by the author in exchange for this review. This is a relatively solid offering, with interesting underlying concepts and lots of action. Admittedly it is a bit of a stretch from a suspension of disbelief POV, but it does make some interesting points.
Some more editing and trimming is required, but on balance worth the credit, esp. for the type of book it is. Recommended.

Interesting start

I have enjoyed reading a lot of Steve Vincent novels, and I was pleasantly surprised on how well his works transfers over to audio. He is a talented author, and have no problem recommending his books. This book was put together and there were interesting enough characters to care about and who made it worth investing my time in. It's actually a bit frightening to think of the power that certain groups hold in the world to shape events in the manner they were shaped in this book. Looking at what is presently happening in the world at the moment, you can see so many areas where fiction can turn to fact quite easily. Now for book 2

real world stuff,

This was fast moving in some parts and definitely slowed down in others. Some parts seem to be all over the place. A good read lots of characters to intertwine within the storyline. Very political and kind of scary because who knows if his may ever happen one day. The narrator did a very good job

Unbelievable Thriller

The author of this story is new to me, while the narrator is one of my favorite male narrators for romance and action stories. Parts of this book I absolutely loved and other parts not so much. My review is not a synopsis of the book, rather my opinion of it. I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, narrator, and/or publisher. I think one of the biggest unrealistic elements of the story was the power of the foundation, and the extents they would go to.

Fun Thriller

The Foundation by Steve P. Vincent is the first book in the Jack Emery series. The story was interesting, well written and an excellent fast paced thriller. A very enjoyable read. Who doesn't love an action and conspiracy story? The audio book was my first and I am totally hooked. The narration is great and the suspense builds as well as with a written copy. I enjoyed the Jack Emery series so much I am reading them all and will be starting the Mitch Herron series also by Steve P. Vincent shortly. I was lucky enough to receive this audio book from the author himself, who, by the way is not only a good writer but a very nice guy. The Foundation was the perfect book to try an audio book. The audio book is excellent and the story in engaging. Give this one a try. Thank you Steve Vincent.

Didn't like the reader

The storyline was very good, if the reader was better I would have enjoyed listening more.

Had some trouble keeping the characters straight

I am reviewing the audiobook given to me by the author. I found it a little hard to keep track of the characters at first. I had to really pay attention and go back over parts of it. I wasn’t sure who were the good guys and who were the bad. Once I got into the story i realized this may have been intentional and I really liked it. It was an exciting action adventure story that is depressingly realistic in today’s world. The US is at war with China and politicians are scheming to take over the world. Jack Emery is an award winning journalist caught up in it all. I like Jack and look forward to reading more about him. I enjoyed the narrator’s voice and presentation Thanks to the author for sharing this with me.

Awesome Thriller

I found Steve P. Vincent when he took over one of my favorite series of all time after Vince Flynn lost his battle with cancer. From there, I found Jack Emery and I am glad I did.

The story is kind of scary thinking how much a person, or group, can influence so much if they are big enough. But I loved how “normal” every day people did their best against them. More than once, I sat in my car in the driveway after getting home because I was in a part of the book I did not want to turn off.

The only thing I did not like, was the person that read the book. There was little change between characters, so much so it was sometimes difficult to follow who was speaking. The main character was from Australia and others were from England, and there were no accents at all.

This was a GREAT book, and I am already listening to the second book in the series.

Thrilling, exciting and dangerous

Very fast-paced, intense and gripping it is a true political thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat with lots of danger and a man who is at his wit ends. Jack pulls his self together after his world falls apart to bring you one exciting read that holds your attention with a story and plot that leaves you wanting more.

The narrator does a good job, I really like his character voices and the emotion he brings to the audio. The characters voices go well and seem to fit the characters. I can really hear the power they hold, true emotions and the danger they are going through. No repeating of voice, no volume changes, no background noises. I liked how his voice seems dry it really fits Jack character. This is the first time I have listened to any of his work and I truly enjoyed it.
