Publisher's Summary

Neil Josten is the newest addition to the Palmetto State University Exy team. He's short, he's fast, he's got a ton of potential - and he's the runaway son of the murderous crime lord known as the Butcher.

Signing a contract with the PSU Foxes is the last thing a guy like Neil should do. The team is high profile, and he doesn't need sports crews broadcasting pictures of his face around the nation. His lies will hold up only so long under this kind of scrutiny, and the truth will get him killed.

But Neil's not the only one with secrets on the team. One of Neil's new teammates is a friend from his old life, and Neil can't walk away from him a second time.

Neil has survived the last eight years by running. Maybe he's finally found someone and something worth fighting for.

Don't pass this over due to the cover pic!!!!

I wasn't sure going into it given that it was a YA novel.
Was I ever WRONG!

Amazingly fast pace story. Identifiable characters. Super interesting sport! Even the narration, which had me kind of wondering in the first chapter, turned out to be an astonishing character builder for the story.
The voice actor is able to carry both male and female with believable accuracy.

Found myself hoping that this book gets picked up and turned into a TV series!
Xce is a game I would PAY to watch in a stadium!

Don't pass this over due to the unfortunate cover pic. This book is 100%!

Intriguing

Intriguing
Full of misteres and intrigues to discover that make this book interesting, luckily otherwise everything revolves around this sport. Too much time in gaming periods for a sport that doesn't exist, even if there are many explanations, I found it difficult to image. I searched on Google to get an idea, fortunately I found images and I became familiar with this universe. The narrator is correct, but only 2 or 3 characters are recognizable, the others are rather mixed or not constant.

Fabulous

These stories are some of my absolute favourites, so I was thrilled that there was an audiobook version of them when I had my eye surgery. Absolutely recommend these books!

Second time around

Its a really fun book and I loved listening to it this time while I get some work done. The voice actor reading it is a little different than I expected, but he really grows on you.

I especially enjoy when he does the women's voices, and every now and again he says something in a tone that makes me laugh a little. Overall its really enjoyable!

Looking forward to book two!

A fun light listen

I can tell I'm going to enjoy this series! The characters in particular have drawn me in. This one was quite short though and I wanted a LITTLE more from the plot.

:/

Maybe it’s just me, and the fact that I’ve already read these books and had a different idea of how everyone would sound in my head, but the narration performance fell flat for me. Aside from Neil, most of the other male main characters have this strange accent choice that I can only describe as on the spectrum of teenage mutant ninja turtles. All the female characters sound the same as well.
