Publisher's Summary

Winner of the Harper Lee Prize for Legal Fiction.

A ruthless lawyer cross-examines his life after a guilty client walks free in this sharp legal thriller from the bestselling author of The Neon Lawyer.

Ruthless defense attorney Tatum Graham has been living large in Miami, but when his recently acquitted client claims another victim, Tatum has a crisis of conscience. Disillusioned, he heads to his small Utah hometown for a simpler life...but that’s not what he finds.

Soon after he arrives, Tatum’s childhood crush offers him a job at the county attorney’s office and assigns him a murder case. The victim is a teenage girl not unlike the victim in the last case he tried. Now a prosecutor, Tatum sees a chance for redemption, but politics, corruption, and a killer defense threaten to thwart justice.

To complicate matters, Tatum’s estranged father has terminal cancer, and the time to reconcile is running out. Tatum moved to Utah to find clarity, but his thoughts swirl with old feelings and present dangers. As the case heats up, so does the risk, threatening to adjourn Tatum’s new life before it begins.

All around great audible book!

Great story and exceptional narration! Made a 6 hour drive go by in the blink of an eye! Couldn’t wait to get back in the car to hear the rest!

Well done!

THE HALLOWS is a different Victor Methos novel in that the protagonist, a Miami defense lawyer, joins the prosecution in his small Utah home town. The novel is superb! The publisher's summary sets up THE HALLOWS perfectly. Alexander Cendese's narration is stellar.

Narration was distracting.

This is set in Vegas... but the characters were all over the place!! From valley girls to surfer dudes to crotchety old man to woman with a lisp - it was so annoying!! A narrator can make a story better or worse. This one was WORSE!!!

This Narrator!!!

This narrator was awful! His women’s voicing was the worst I’ve ever heard. Spent more time cringing at his voice rather than listening to the content.

Good story. Narrator can't do women's voices.

I almost returned this because the narrator made the women sound like idiots. I loved the most recent by this author and I liked this but not as much.

wasn't sure about the book, but glad I read it

it took awhile for me to get into listening to this book. I'm not sure why. but as I listened all the way to the end I was glad that I listened to it. victor methos is not predictable , maybe that's why I had a hard time listening. but it was an excellent book. it is better to listen to the book as much as you can without breaks. its better to understand and follow.

Disappointed by this one!

I really liked a couple of other V. Methos books, but this one was a disappointment. The storyline wasn't particularly interesting, and the narrator was completely wrong for this story, which made it even worse. He's not able to do other voices well, especially women, but also other male characters. I'll be returning this one. Sorry.

Good storyline

This book was engaging, but the voice actors “ tough guy” voice was distracting to say the least. He used an accent similar Pennsylvania/ NJ. His female voices were awful.
