Publisher's Summary

Barbara was 12 when she was admitted to the psychiatric hospital Aston Hall in 1971. From a troubled home, she'd hoped she would find sanctuary there. But during her stay, Barbara was systematically drugged and abused by its head physician, Dr Kenneth Milner.

Somehow, eventually, she started to campaign for answers. This is a shocking account of how vulnerable children were preyed upon by the doctor entrusted with their care.

What a fighter

the performance really kept me listening, I wonder what happened to Kirsten (I know names were probably changed fro privacy) or Steven. the part when the police took Barbra from the woman she followed looking for her mom I wanted to cry "leave her there you idiots she wants to keep her," but I know why they didn't after all her last foster mom seemed nice at first too. it just sucks not long after this she ended up in the hospital.

lots of love from Canada to Barbra and the victims of Dr. Milner I found out that you won your case, while no amount of money will fix what happened I'm sure the fact that it has be acknowledged that they BELIVE you is a good step in healing.

Riveting story!

This is one of the saddest stories of child abuse I have ever heard. Barbara has such courage and strength! She is amazing and listening to all her struggles made me very upset. I am so glad that she has come through this with strength and courage !

wow

this book is outstanding. at first I was skeptical. the narration seemed to dramatic. but my goodness. I was so wrong. this is by far the best narration I have ever listened to. I felt like I was in the book travelling with this poor, and unbelievably strong woman. this is a book you must read!

An incredible book

What an incredible book about extreme abuse and how she dealt with it. I was moved to tears many times listening to her testimony of abuse.
She is an incredible woman to have been able to get through her life and help others who have been an abusive situation. I was so inspired by her story. It just made me realize no matter how bad abuse has been in our lives we can overcome if we just put our mind to it and dedicate our lives to receive healing through horrible things that happen to us.
