Tragic conventionalism
When your premise is that conventional methods of parenting don’t work and then you go on to suggest conventional methods as your own ideas, where the parent is in “control” and the child is “subordinate” whose job is to “comply” with the “commands” of the parents, I fear for the wellbeing of our future. Kazdin's methods fall short of making meaningful connection between parent and child, holding a space to hear and understand the child's concerns and maintiang mutuality for all to succeed.
