Publisher's Summary

This collected edition of the Antarktos Saga includes all five books in the series - Descent, Pursuit, Ascent, Lament, and Onslaught. More than 35 hours of pulse-pounding audio written by the New York Times and number one Audible best-selling author Jeremy Robinson and narrated by the best-selling and award-winning narrator R.C. Bray.

Description:

I’ve been told that the entire continent of Antarctica groaned at the moment of my birth. The howl tore across glaciers, over mountains, and deep into the ice. Everyone says so. Except for my father; all he heard was Mother's sobs. Not of pain, but of joy, so he says. Other than that, the only verifiable fact about the day I was born is that an iceberg the size of Los Angeles broke free from the ice shelf, a few miles off the coast. Again, some would have me believe the fracture took place as I entered the world. But all that really matters, according to my parents, is that I, Solomon Ull Vincent, the first child born on Antarctica - the first and only Antarctican - was born on September 2, 1974.

If only someone could have warned me that upon my return to the continent of my birth, 13 years later, I would be kidnapped, subjected to tortures beyond comprehension, and forced to fight...and kill. If only someone had hinted that I'd wind up struggling to survive in a subterranean world full of ancient warriors, strange creatures, and supernatural powers.

Had I been warned, I might have lived a normal life. The human race might have remained safe. And the fate of the world might not rest on my shoulders. Had I been warned....

This is my story - the tale of Solomon Ull Vincent - the last hunter.

Reads a bit like a kids story

I bought the book because of the amount of hours it stated and that it was narrated by R.C. Bray.
I’m a big fan of the narrator however this set took me months to finish. I found it to be more of a kids story than I would rather like.
Just not my personal favourite story.
More of a Shmo Bishlap n Skippy kinda guy myself.

Better than I expected…

Sure, you could say that it’s generic, but it ignores what good story telling does; captivate. It’s a bit comic book-y, but I didn’t exactly come here for the bisque; but you’ll stay for the roasted egg monster.

It would make for a helluva series, be it animated or live.
Thanks J.R. & R.C.B. for another really fun listen.
Kudos.

(p.s. fledging writers would do well to learn how all characters, be they heel or baby face, can be enjoyed in equal measure in context of the story they inhabit; free of blatant ideological posturing like one was trying feculent fois gras out of our brains through our respective eye/ear holes. )

Too much? Maybe I’m just hungry…

A blend of modern and old classis

if you are w fan of Clive Barkers Imajica, Jules Vernon's Journey to the center of the earth and Neil Gaimans American God's. This series is for you. blending action, adventure, mythology into an amazing fantasy novel of epic proportions. and of course, the narrator is top shelf....

Interesting story, though main character is quite whiny

Interesting story, I quite enjoyed it! However there’s a few things that need to be said, such as how whiny main character is, at least half of this book is him whining about not wanting to kill people and crying about every thing. With the extreme punishment he endures any real
Human being would have gotten tougher, and gained confidence, but the first 4 books are just him running away from everything!
eventually on book 5 he finally grows a pair!
That’s where it gets good! Long build up but eventually it gets there

Another thing that quite bothered me, being an atheist myself, I have zero issue with any of the deities or religious things in the book.
The issue I have is that the author makes quite a few quips about atheists, (despite the book having nothing to do with atheism outside of a few jabs here and there)that are just plane ridiculous, trying to make atheists seem crazy because they don’t believe, when the main character starts out as agnostic…
And as an atheist if I were to experience the things Sol had then I too would would find it hard not to believe!
Too bad God is so shy

an epic tale to challenge all others

this series is a true marvel. full of adventure, mythology, magical moments and deep family ties. I challenge you to find another that can even stand up to this. I laughed, I screamed, I cried and I loved. thank you Mr.Robinson, thank you.

a slight spoiler: the end battle was unbelievable, it was epic, it was full of ups and downs...and I truly believe it was better than the Avengers Endgame battle. I would LOVE to see this on screen, but am happy to settle for the movie that played out in my head.

Well rounded

I went in a bit hesitant but was quickly engrossed in the story. Consistent character introductions, development, and growth through the entire series with a narration that seemed to grow with the characters. Enough depth to make you think but fantastic enough to not drag you down into the characters internal struggles. Series moved along in a well thought out story that kept my wandering attention span wanting more.
