Appalled by the hero-worship around him, Geary is nevertheless a man who will do his duty. And he knows that bringing the stolen Syndic hypernet key safely home is the Alliance's one chance to win the war. But to do that, Geary will have to live up to the impossibly heroic "Black Jack" legend.

Story
In the three years since former fleet officer Rob Geary and former marine Mele Darcy led improvised forces to repel attacks on the newly settled world of Glenlyon, tensions have only gotten worse. When one of Glenlyon's warships is blown apart trying to break the blockade that has isolated the world from the rest of human-colonized space, only the destroyer Saber remains to defend it from another attack. Geary's decision to take Saber to the nearby star Kosatka to safeguard a diplomatic mission is a risky interpretation of his orders, to say the least.

Victorious
Oh, how sad the series is over. I do hope he goes on to write about putting both the Alliance and the Syn-tic back together to fight the aliens. Christian Rummel did a great job narrating the series. Campbell did a great job with the space battle scenes and also with building the tension and suspense between the various people in the series. I am looking for more series by Jack Campbell. I feel as if an old friend has moved away.

A Great Book From a Great Series
I couldn't believe when I saw that this had been released. The previous book in the series (Relentless) was published barely a year ago. I downloaded this on a friday night and I was done listening to it by monday evening.
You need to get these books in order or this book will not make any sense. Here is the order:
Dauntless
Fearless
Courageous
Valiant
Relentless
Victorious.
Christian Rummel is probably the best reader I have ever heard. He switches characters so well that it's a pleasure to listen for the reader's skill as much as the author's.
I cannot recommend this serious enough.

The Perfect Ending, in that It Isn't One
When this book hit Audible, I set aside studying for finals until I'd finished. It's funny in retrospect then that I dreaded this book's arrival. It meant the end of a series I'd come to love since I'd first discovered it on Audible some two years before. If you've made it through the first five, all I can say is, what are you waiting for? And if you haven't, do not under any circumstances start here; this is the payoff to a long journey, filled with tension, triumph, and sacrifice.
Luckily, this was not the end of the saga of the Alliance fleet, but rather the jumping off point for two spinoff series, one I happily revisit from time to time.

This is a great series
The Lost Fleet is one of the most entertaining SF series I have ever read. I've now listened to the complete series 4 times. All I can say is that I've really enjoyed Mr Campbell's work. I would recommend to anyone who is looking to read this series is that you start from the beginning. Even though I know Victorious is suppose to be the last book in the series, I really hope that Mr Campbell re-exams this decision and continue with the more in this series. The possibilities are endless at the moment.

A great continuation to a great series.
I started this series as this book was released, so I was able to listen to all the books in the series. This one really ties things up nicely. Great action, espionage, and a little romance.
I can't wait for the next book in the series.

A great end to a great series
I have to say that I've been quite impressed with the series and this last book does a good job of wrapping up all loose ends aside from the arc that's left open for the new series (was VERY pleased to find that after I finished this book :D). This is essentially the final battle at the syndic homeworld and turns out to be a pretty dicey situation that requires very delicate maneuvering by our resident hero. The actual final fleet battle was underwhelming, in my opinion, and seemed to be possibly the shortest and simplest encounter in the series among fleet battles. Nevertheless, the events surrounding that battle were the main focus. Afterward, the way is laid for another series as a meeting is forced between the fleet and their new rivals, as well as a return home where Geary and Desjani bring a resolution to their personal troubles. If you've liked the series so far (and why else would you be looking at the last book) you will enjoy this one and rocket right into the continuation series as I am doing now :D

The series ends?
Now that Geary got the ‘Lost Fleet’ home all the games begin. It must have felt like the Roman Senate when the first of the Caesars came marching in just before the ousted them. The difference is did Geary depose the ‘Alliance Grand Council’? Did he convince ‘Captain Padilla’ accomplish his plans to put Geary in power? I will let you read.
We see that the ‘Admiralty’ of the fleet is completely clueless. They are waiting for Geary to conquer them or be put under them. Geary is put in charge and doesn't have time to fix the Admiralty before the fleet is ready to leave again to deal the death blow to the Syndicate worlds. Geary learns that as he has fixed the captains with his from doing stupid tactics he must do it again. The ships lost by the fleet out of the gate are because of chasing ‘honor.’ Ultimately he starts to get control of the fleet.
In the Syndicate system Geary has outwitted the Syndic forces and helps to bring the war to an end. Then enter the aliens. We knew they would have to appear sooner rather than later. They remind me of the ‘Gallifrey’s’ in their threats of action in the timeline or sending their large fleet to destroy that doesn't really exist. I wonder what Geary would do. As for the next sequence of the stories don’t interest me at this time. This is reminding me of the ‘Dune’ series which seems to be never ending and getting redundant.

If you read the other books of this series then this one is very predictable but still makes for a good listen. The series as a whole is excellent and Christian Rummel did an awesome job with his narration.
