Publisher's Summary

Transported two thousand years into the past, readers are introduced to Antipas, a Roman civic leader who has encountered the writings of the biblical author Luke. Luke's writings spark Antipas's interest, and a correspondence transpires between them. As the two delve deeply into each other's lives, Antipas begins to see things in fresh ways, causing him to rethink the values upon which his life had been founded. In due course, a gladiatorial contest in Pergamum forces difficult decisions on both the Christians in that city and on Antipas himself.

Great Story

Antipas’s view on the meaning of honour slowly changed throughout this book. It was encouraging to witness this transformation.

Fascinating and thought provoking

Interesting format which sometimes required suspending disbelief as the author had "dear reader" moments that seemed out of place in the letters. The content was useful, but didn't seem to fit perfectly. The details provided about the first century are extensive and it was an enjoyable way to learn more about the historical context of the biblical New Testament. The narrator did a respectable job.
