This recording, I'm sorry to inform you, contains such unpleasantries as a giant pincher machine, a bad casserole, a man with a cloud of smoke where his head should be, a hypnotist, a terrible accident resulting in injury, and coupons.
I have promised to record the entire history of these three poor children, but you haven't, so if you prefer stories that are more heartwarming, please feel free to make another selection.

Terrible Audio
Barely audible narration with ear-splittin sound effects and character voices, especially Shirley.
Great story though. Maybe read the book instead.

Painful audio
As other people have said, the audio is mixed horribly on this one. I don’t know why but the regular narration is quiet then the characters voices are painfully loud. Was listening to it in the car with my daughter and had to keep turning it up and down because some of the characters voices were like literally double the volume of the rest of the narration. Almost just went to the next book it was so bad. Don’t know why they didn’t listen to the mix after recording it

Alas! Alas!
Although the story itself was engaging, the audio mix was devastating. The sound was not mixed smoothly at all! When alternating between voices and narration you must turn it up to hear his voice (as he speaks so very softly) and are then rewarded by deafening shouts as the characters speak... Very disappointing.
