About this listen

DISCOVER THE MOST UNPUTDOWNABLE PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER OF THE YEAR. WINNER OF THE JOFFE BOOKS PRIZE 2023.

Love thy neighbour. Fear thy neighbour.

I thought moving to this quiet cul-de-sac was the fresh start my husband and I needed, escaping the noise of our cramped flat in Hounslow. I left India and all that was familiar for a new life with him in England.

But my husband works all hours, leaving me alone in a house that doesn’t feel like a home.

Our neighbours notice the bruises on my arms. They draw the obvious conclusions.

They seem kind, but they’re hiding something.

I just can’t shake the feeling that someone is always watching me . . . waiting.

My husband’s working late. Again. That’s when I see it.

A face pressed to the glass.

A hand waving.

It couldn’t be. Could it?

This utterly gripping and unputdownable psychological thriller full of shocking twists is perfect for fans of Steena Holmes, Freida McFadden, E.V. Seymour, Dandy Smith, Sonya Bateman or Nicole Trope.

I unfortunately have to say I was not a fan of this book. I found the main character annoying and in a perpetual little girl whiny complaints. I found it difficult to like her.
Even though I respect the culture and the adherence they expect it was annoying to listen to.

I throughly understand it since I am of similar culture. However, my parents allowed me to grow a backbone ,have resilience be respected and be independent. Men were never rulers in our household. I found the entire concept of that very unappealing , especially in today’s society of strong women.
All the characters had so much talking in their heads about what they should or should not do that it was distracting.
Glad this was included in my Audible Plus. Don’t spend a Credit please.

Whiny characters

I enjoyed this book. it was nice to learn about a different culture. I like the little twist during the story.

Friendship

The story wasn't substantial enough to require this many hours and I saw the plot points coming well before they came to fruition. This story could've done with some tightening up and editing. Also unfortunately none of the characters were likeable for me. The voiceovers were well done though.

Long and drawn out with very little payoff
