Publisher's Summary

I'm not your average girl.

My best friend is my switchblade. My favorite hobby is using it on the cruel, the abusive, and anyone who gets on my bad side. I'm a convicted murderer with a chip on my shoulder and a dangerous lack of restraint.

And then there's Zak.

His rap sheet makes mine look tame. The bounty on his head is worth more money than I'll ever make, and the deadly fae that shadow his every step wield more power than I'll ever know.

He's the Crystal Druid, and his first mistake was setting foot on my turf. His second was saving my life.

And his final mistake will be failing to realize that however dark, however ruthless, however broken he is...I'm worse.

The Freaking Ending!

I loved this book so much. I was not sure about it at first, but I was hooked by the 4 chapter. It took for me to like Stabby Mc Stabby but near the end, I do like her. I still hate lalaki so much. But Riker is pretty cool. I love how Cris narrates her books, and love how she narrates KIT. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I can't believe how much I liked this book.

I loved this. I just absolutely loved this.

I was so happy that the main character was not a 'badass' although they were, the character not feeling like they had to tell everyone they were was refreshing.

The book was good from start to finish and I had an incredibly hard time stopping.

The mystery was although resolved left some openings for where to go next.

The characters had a good build on their relationship and I just cannot say enough good about this story. I am looking for the next book now and hope to get it soon because I really want to know where they go from here.

Secrets and twists

I absolutely love this author. And the narrator is awesome, too! The story made me laugh and cringe and laugh again (as do most of the authors books). I did find this one a little more dark than the others, but it is the druid book, after all.

Hiighly recommend for an entertaining "read," although I would suggest starting with the Guild Codex: Spellbound to get a better understanding of the Crystal Druid first.

Phenomenal as all the Guildcodex series!

I need a moment to breathe- that was such a exhilarating read. Another phenomenal start to another Guildcodex series! First off if you are wanting a book to suck you in with well developed characters full of unique personality and a world that seamlessly combines magic and fantasy into our urban modern day life read this or any of her Guildcodex books! You will not regret it!
I loved getting to know Zach more and absolutely loved his interactions with the new main character Saber. She is badass and viciously deadly to those that piss her off, but also more kind hearted and intelligent than she gives herself credit. I loved everything about her character, and I think her and Zach as perfect for each other and are going to have many more wild adventures while they work on their relationship. Her interactions with her familiar was such a delight in this story, his personality in contrast to Zach familiar works really well too..I can't wait for the future books. I just adore how fresh the story and characters feel; every story Annette creates is a masterpiece and has me never wanting to put the book or headphones down! I kinda guessed the ending but even guessing still it left me shocked..that I litterally said "what!?" out loud on the bus lol. This series was such a joy to listen to, and as always the voice actor does a phenomenal job! I am always blown away by her range of voices and that she actually able to put personality and feelings into each voice creating the character is incredible. I cannot wait for the next one, and really hoping Annette will make this as long as her Tori's Series. I can't tell anymore which of her Guildcodex series I love more! I can't wait to have the physical of this! :) PLEASE READ THIS OR LISTEN! It was amazing! I highly recommend listening though to enjoy the full experience of the characters and their personalities.

Love getting to see more about Zachs past.

Here we meet our bad ass female lead Saber Rose. With a love for animals and a deep detest for anyone who mistreats them we learn about her past and how she keeps winding up in less than favorable situations.

Zach come is part way through and helps Saber along her quests to find the truth. We get to see all Zach familiars and even get a nice cameo by another character from a pervious book. this book has lots of twists and turns especially the end.

Annette Marie does an amazing job brining this world to life and making you feel like you are there with them. Cris Dukehart brings that world into technicolor which her colorful narrations and sassy inflection.

slow start great finish

Took a while to get into the story just couldn't get attached to the characters. But the ending was great and has me completely invested in the series. Worth the listen.

Awkward

Simplistic writing that I was prepared to forgive since her target audience is generally YA. But - the awkward phrasing so prevalent throughout the book dumps the reader out of the story and honestly, ends up cringey. For instance she didn't hear the sound, it scraped against her ears and she didn't take a deep breath, air rammed into her lungs. The story idea is great but this phrasing and unrealistic and/or cliche character motivation make the story well below average. The writer makes her character no better than her opponent when she's cruel in response to cruelty but many writers are guilty of that. What really does her work in is putting the main character on a soapbox spouting self-righteous dialog. Marie's ideas are solid but her mechanics need serious work. Don't waste money on it, borrow it from the library if you feel the need to read this book.
