I received The Piece That Fits by N.J. Gray as a gift and decided to go in mostly blind after seeing a bit of buzz on TikTok—and honestly, I’m glad I gave it a shot. This story follows Avery Fox, who’s been living life by the book after a traumatic past, until everything unravels and she ends up moving in with her brother and his bandmates… including her childhood nemesis, Liam. Cue the classic love-hate tension 👀

Listen… I liked this, but it never fully pulled me in. There’s something about the story that felt a little flat at times, like I was waiting for it to hit harder emotionally or go deeper with the characters. Avery’s journey between head vs heart had potential, especially with the music element and her relationships with Danny (her brother) and Liam, but I felt like those parts could’ve been explored so much more.

That said, I didn’t dislike it at all. I actually enjoyed parts of it and even teared up a bit toward the end 💔 The narration by Andi Eloise and Brandon Francis really helped bring the story to life—honestly, without it, this might’ve been a DNF for me.

Overall, a decent read with a great premise and some emotional moments, but it just didn’t quite hit as hard as I wanted it to.
