Publisher's Summary

From best-selling author Talia Hibbert comes a story of wicked royals, fake engagements, and the fed-up office worker trapped in the midst of it all.

Cherry Neita is 30, flirty, and done with men. As far as she can tell, they're overrated, overpaid, and underperforming - in every area of life. But a girl has needs, and the smoking-hot stranger she just met at the office seems like the perfect one-night stand....

Prince Ruben of Helgmøre is reckless, dominant, and famously filthy. The outcast royal is rebuilding his reputation - all for a good cause - but he can't resist a pretty face. And bossy whirlwind Cherry's got the face, the body, and the attitude to make Ruben's convictions crumble. Even better, when she propositions him, she has no idea who he really is.

But when paparazzi catch the pair, erm, kissing in an alleyway, Ruben's anonymity disappears faster than Cherry's knickers. Now, the press is in uproar, the palace is outraged, and Ruben's reputation is back in the gutter. There's only one way to turn this disaster around - and it involves Cherry, some big fat lies, and a flashy diamond ring. On her left hand.

Unfortunately, Cherry isn't pleased with Ruben's "fake engagement" scheme...and neither is the king.

Contains mature themes.

Meh

Narrator was not the right choice for this. This was a struggle to listen to. Accents were horrible and I found the whole thing really jarring. As a result I think it sort of ruined the book for me. I have enjoyed other stories from this author but this one unfortunately just didn’t hit it for me… but I believe a lot of that has to do with the narrator.

Worst narrator ever

The accents in the book are so bad. I almost DNFed it but noticed I only has a little bit left.

Ery funny and clever, it was an amusing listen, laughed out loud a number of times. Like a modern-day Julia Quinn. highly recommend.

I just can't do it with the narration, man.

I should've previewed this for narration. The story is great and the voice actor is great but I hate the way he does Reuben's voice, I can't do it. I'm just going to read this book instead

Formulaic

A very formulaic romance novel, except for the fact that the protagonist is black. But there's something kind of nice about POC characters being commonplace enough to be in mediocre works.
I adore Cornell Collins as a narrator and he's great at the spicy sex scenes.

Smart, charming story for contemporary audiences

Hibbert is gifted at representing the underrepresented in a well worn genre. Telling stories of protagonists we don’t often see, but are owed their time in the spotlight.

The sex scenes are hot, the romance believable (even if the circumstances are not) and the darker themes handled with grace.

Tw for moments of domestic violence, child abuse, systemic racism, sexism, and fatphobia.

Talia never misses.

I wasn't sure at first about this book. I'm use to a female reader, but once the plot.got going I couldn't stop listening. Anything by this author is a hit!

Officially a fan!!!

I loved this book so much that I had to write a review. The writing is brilliant and genuinely hilarious at times. Also kudos to the narrator and delivering such witty and charming banter. The narrator made the characters FEEL real; the characters felt fully fleshed out and developed.
Stellar job!!!!
