  • Summary

  • In this scripted Audible Original, wisecracking marine biologist and astronaut Bee Guerrero has signed up for the trip of a lifetime: a series of dives deep into the pitch-black waters of Saturn’s moon, Enceladus.

Set in the near-future when global climate catastrophe has forced humans to search for solutions on new planets, The Sea in the Sky chronicles two astronauts’ journey, in what could be the final NASA-sponsored mission to space. In their search for life, Bee and Ty navigate uncharted waters, take on incredible risks and confront difficult truths about themselves. What will they find at the bottom of it all?

At times epic and intimate, laugh-out-loud funny and achingly soulful, The Sea in the Sky plumbs the depths of science and faith, triumph and failure. The Audible Original drama is told via daily "dispatches" sent from the space shuttle back to Earth, together with original music and sound design, a never-before-heard space rap, and a full cast of actors.

Dive into a world you need to hear to believe.

Absolutely Stunning! Best Read of 2020!

It's been so long since I've listened to a good book, and this one far exceeded my expectations. This is the first book I've ever listened to an audiobook on Audible, as well, and I believe I'm addicted.

So immersive, addictive, heartbreaking, funny, and scientifically fascinating! I found myself laughing and crying with the characters - which is no easy task. I remember reading reviews about Bianca being annoying, which I can agree with at times. HOWEVER, I can see how this is part of her young, immature, and firey personality. She definitely grows on you!

Do yourself a favour and add this story to your bookshelf. You won't regret it. Now excuse me while I try to go search for something new to read that's atleast even HALF as good as this.

what an adventure!

Great story, excellent acting and wonderful production/sound design. Makes you wonder how far into the future it will be before we really do explore places like Enceladus... Well worth a listen!

Wonderful, unforgettable characters and story.

Fully immersive sounds and performance, absolutely perfect. Didn't feel like narrators reading a book, it felt like you were in the story itself.

The chapters kept me guessing on what was next, and I really cared for the characters. Some unexpected twists and turns, combined with emotional story telling made this a fantastic experience.

we fly in space and things go wrong.

A good science story. No magic. Some pessimism on Earth with people keeping secrets. Emersive.

Intimate Subnautica

As a fan of Subnautica Below Zero this book was right in my interests. The small cast made everything so intimate. You experience the wins and falls of the characters as if you were there yourself. I think everyone should listen to this.

A good ride

I wasn't sure about it at first. Parts feel pretty slow and similar, and to be honest I found B quite annoying in the get go. Then suddenly it grips you on an emotional rollercoaster and is hard to stop. Amazing voice acting, and a lot of truths to the human mind in this story. I liked it.

I was pulled in from the start...

This was the perfect balm for an 11 hour road trip! Right from the get-go I was intrigued - and it got better from there! I have to give huge kudos to the whole production, particularly, the performances, the character development, and sound quality. Outstanding! Truly, everything was pitch perfect, and so an utterly enjoyable tale to get lost in. It reminded me of a dusted-off and upgraded radio drama. I am surprised by the negative ratings as I think this is the standard to which I will now compare all future listens...(I will also search for these actors!).
