Publisher's Summary

An audio compilation of Steal Like an Artist, Show Your Work, and Keep Going.

Read by the author, it’s the best-selling and transformative series on how to unlock your creativity, find community and an audience in the digital age, and stay focused, creative, and true to yourself - for life.  Includes full text from:

Steal Like an Artist: The New York Times best-selling book on the 10 things nobody ever told you about being creative. Including nothing is original, so embrace influence. School yourself through the work of others. Remix and reimagine to discover your own path. And forget the old cliché about writing what you know: Instead, write the book you want to read, make the movie you want to watch.

Show Your Work: How to take that critical next step on a creative journey - getting known and finding your people. A user’s manual for embracing the communal nature of creativity, this inspiring manifesto is a blueprint for succeeding as any kind of artist or entrepreneur in the digital age.

Keep Going: Timeless, practical, and ethical principles for anyone trying to sustain a meaningful and productive life. Worry less about getting things done and more about the worth of what you’re doing. Instead of focusing on making your mark, work to leave things better than you found them. Above all, keep working, keep playing, keep creating - keep going.

Very useful and practical book

I really like everything about how this trilogy is constructed. The narrator has a great speaking voice and gets straight to the point. All 3 books are short and divided into 10 short chapters each that are filled with important, practical information and examples. The books don't drag on too much or get boring, I highly recommend people listen to these as they will find lots of practical advice they can apply to any field in their lives, not just art.

A Chat with an Artist who Talks

I enjoyed listening to the author as he explained his Art. The trilogy went by very quickly and I was reminded through his anecdotes what other creatives were inspired by. The author reading from his own books in this manner, is very much like sitting down and attending a workshop, or even chatting over coffee, as Austin gives out advice and techniques, to set you on your own path to creativity. Austin Kleon has the wisdom of an old soul. These books contain thoughtful lessons that everyone an benefit from.

Enlightening

I watched relatives sit and produce creative items, from quilts and crocheted or knitted items to sketches and painting that were lifelike and I read there prose and poems. Yet, I fumbled round trying to be creative too.
'Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in awhile' was the best commits that I would get ... and I remember the mallard duck I painted INE school which the teacher asked if she could include in her "student inspiration file" and a scuppered tiger and a sketched elephant that joined other teachers files ... but these were rarities and weren't appreciated as being much within my family.

It has never occurred to me that it was okay to steal from others. Of course, my artist training was of the obligation category ...not enough money for Extras ... especially ones considered to not help to pay the bills. I do have some files of 'inspiration' images but until now I felt guilty for having them.

Now, with the reveal that it is not unacceptable to study and learn another's style without forgeging their work but pursuing how they can help me develop my own style; I look forward to exploring all these talent people's "advice" towards my developing a wider range of creativity ... good, bad and potential ... with enjoyment.

Excellent

I need to keep this collection of encouragement on continuous loop. Perhaps I’ll listen to it for 30 minutes a day, or so, while I take that recommended daily walk and create something for the sheer enjoyment of the act.

A boring non focus ramble

Im sure the author really wanted to make this book special but I feel like there wasn't enough valuable information in here that warrants me to buy this book. He was rambling for almost five hours and I only finished it because I dont like starting books without finishing them.

You could have summarize the whole buy with one sentence: "There are no original idea and most people draw inspiration from others".

The rest of the book was rambling, feel-good stuff that didn't connect in any way to the topic of the book.

Getting a refund.
