Story
A gentle reminder for the days you feel light in this world, and for the days in which the sun rises a little slower. A gentle reminder for when your heart is full of hope and for when you are learning how to heal it. A gentle reminder for when you finally begin to trust in the goodness and for when you need the kind of words that hug your broken pieces back together. A gentle reminder for when growth hangs heavy in the air, for when you need to tuck your strength into your bones just to make it to tomorrow.

Story
Coexisting but conflicting needs create self-sabotaging behaviors. This is why we resist efforts to change, often until they feel completely futile. But by extracting crucial insight from our most damaging habits, building emotional intelligence by better understanding our brains and bodies, releasing past experiences at a cellular level, and learning to act as our highest potential future selves, we can step out of our own way and into our potential.

We often struggle to let some people go, especially when they made that decision. We question the universe, we question ourselves, and we question everyone around us but we never truly get our answers. Letting someone go takes time, patience, and commitment to actively stop ourselves from relapsing and thinking about that person again. The Art of Letting Go helps you understand why, how, and when you should let someone go so you can move on and never look back.

Story
A year and a half into our marriage, I found out my husband had been having an affair with a 19-year-old for six months. I filed for divorce and left. Two weeks later I met a man, and we fell madly in love. It was a fairy-tale romance for a month and a half, and he convinced me to join him on a romantic month-long vacation in Italy. Forty-eight hours before we were supposed to get on a plane, he told me he needed to go by himself. I was devastated. So, I had a decision to make. Either stay home and be heartbroken, or go travel Europe for a month by myself. And staying at home heartbroken? F%*k. That.

If you're constantly feeling on edge, forever working to appease your spouse to little avail and feel like you're constantly being chipped away at with their abusive behavior, then I can understand how emotionally shattering it feels to live this way. If, in the same breath, it breaks your heart to even consider leaving them because you can't imagine life without them, then I can understand that feeling too - because I was trauma bonded to my abusive ex.

Story
From the New York Times best-selling author of The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F*ck and Get Your Sh*t Together comes more straight talk about how to stand up for who you are and what you really want, need, and deserve - showing when it's okay to be selfish, why it's pointless to be perfect, and how to be "difficult". Being yourself should be easy, yet too many of us struggle to live on other people's terms instead of our own. Rather than feeling large and in charge, we feel little and belittled.

Beautiful
I loved this book entirely. The narrator did an awesome job. And i don’t usually find such a short book can say so much but this one was really beautiful and uplifting. I also don’t reread books very often but i think i will read this one from time to time. I recommend this book.

Disappointing
Liked the general wisdom.
Disliked repetition, same phraseology, as well as concepts, over and over ad nauseam. Wisdom now a days seems dished out like ice cream, so much so that it can be dismissive as well as misleading of the time and work of true growth. Were wisdom concepts as easy as writing about them, we would meet a lot of wise, mentally healthy, robust and flourishing people every day.
Working with people who have experienced crises, I know it can take decades to grow enough to be motivated more by love than fear, or to flourish post traumatically.
Too superficial a treatment of the human condition for me.

Great for going through hard times
The listen was very good. she's trying to comfort and encourage after a hard breakup but can help after losing a loved one as well. Rachel Jacobs read slowly but I think she did so intentionally to help emphasize the material, and in that she did a very good job. unfortunately if you try to speed up just a bit it gets very choppy. very recommended though esp if trying to cope with difficult times.

It was almost eerie, feeling like this was written for me, and she was talking to me the whole time. Grateful for this work. It was affirming and felt like a therapy session.
