Publisher's Summary

One of the most celebrated and popular historical romances ever written, "The Three Musketeers" tells the story of the early adventures of the young Gascon gentleman, D'Artagnan and his three friends from the regiment of the King's Musketeers - Athos, Porthos and Aramis. Under the watchful eye of their patron M. de Treville, the four defend the honour of the regiment against the guards of Cardinal Richelieu, and the honour of the queen against the machinations of the Cardinal himself as the power struggles of seventeenth century France are vividly played out in the background. But their most dangerous encounter is with the Cardinal's spy, Milady, one of literature's most memorable female villains, and Alexandre Dumas employs all his fast-paced narrative skills to bring this enthralling novel to a breathtakingly gripping and dramatic conclusion.

Love this narrator!

The story was great! So much better (as is usually the case) than any of the movies. The narrator did such a great job of voicing the characters I was entranced in the story, even when he voiced women I didn't notice and was not brought out of the story he was telling.

Great story, unfortunate performance

This is a classic for a reason. High adventure, swords, intrigue, romance, it's got it all.

Unfortunately, it sounds like Wallace Shawn (the "inconceivable!" guy from the Princess Bride) is reading it. A great actor, but you don't want to listen to him for 26 hours. You can't lose yourself in the story, the artificial sounding voices and the awkward cadence keeps distracting you.

slow at first but hard to put down by the end

at first I thought I was gunna struggle the whole time, lot a of names and introductions in the begining. but by the end I was deeply into the characters and the intrigue.

the reader really did an awesome job with bringing this story to life! i would not have liked it as much without his talented performance!
