Publisher's Summary

#1 New York Times bestselling author Daniel Silva’s celebrated debut novel, The Unlikely Spy, is “A roller-coaster World War II adventure that conjures up memories of the best of Ken Follett and Frederick Forsyth” (The Orlando Sentinel).

“In wartime,” Winston Churchill wrote, “truth is so precious that she should always be attended by a bodyguard of lies.” For Britain’s counterintelligence operations, this meant finding the unlikeliest agent imaginable - a history professor named Alfred Vicary, handpicked by Churchill himself to expose a highly dangerous, but unknown, traitor. The Nazis, however, have also chosen an unlikely agent. Catherine Blake is the beautiful widow of a war hero, a hospital volunteer - and a Nazi spy under direct orders from Hitler: uncover the Allied plans for D-Day...

The Narration

Hard to get past the narration. I just could not finish it. Might be easier to follow as a book, not audio.

Ummm….just “no”

Confusing. Unrealistic. I don’t consider this a truthful account of war. Give it a pass.

BRILLIANT HISTORICAL FICTION !

This was a great Audible book!
There is stuff for history types, romantics, edge of your seat thriĺl seekers.
Oh it was such a good listen!

Daniel Silva has written a story so filled with facts and the devious workings of MI5, MI6 and the German Abwehr that one is left wondering, did this really happen!
Michael Page was stunning with the different characters. He caught their emotions perfectly. One could feel all the tension, angst, et cetera.
A superb performance!

Not my usual fare.

It was on sale, thought I’d try it knowing that the author was reliably good. Surprised at how easily the story of war, espionage and duplicity held my attention throughout. A few too many characters to immediately connect with but over time there was enough personality and sufficient context for me to want to follow them through to the end, literally. Glad I read this.

Finally!

I’ve been an audible member for 4 years now and I try so hard to be engaged but can’t seem to lock in.
Every month I say to myself ok this time I’ll find something that will captivate me and lock me in.
Well I’m happy to report, this month I nailed it. This book is awesome! The narration is incredible and the story is wonderfully gripping.

Nothing wrong just not my cup of tea

One of those times when I chose a book that just wasn't for me. The story was interesting, I didn't not enjoy it and listened to the whole story, I just wasn't captured.

Great Historical Fiction

Well woven spy thriller from WWII - contains lots of interesting stuff nicely researched. Could have been shortened methinks - but top drawer stuff nonetheless.
