Publisher's Summary

At a crossroads between a cringe-worthy past (Todd the Toad) and an uncertain future (she's not exactly homeless, but it's close), Lucy Swift travels to Oxford to visit her grandmother. With Gran's undying love to count on and Cardinal Woolsey's, Gran's knitting shop, to keep her busy, Lucy can catch her breath and figure out what she's going to do.

Except it turns out that Gran is the undying. Or at least, the undead. But there's a death certificate. And a will, leaving the knitting shop to Lucy. And a lot of people going in and out who never use the door - including Gran, who is just as loving as ever, and prone to knitting sweaters at warp speed, late at night. What exactly is going on?

When Lucy discovers that Gran did not die peacefully in her sleep, but was murdered, she has to bring the killer to justice without tipping off the law that there's no body in the grave. Between a hot 500-year-old vampire and a dishy detective inspector, both of whom always seem to be there for her, Lucy finds her life getting more complicated than a triple cable cardigan. The only one who seems to know what's going on is her cat...or is it...her familiar?

Loved it!

It was interesting, but also easy to listen to. I really found it relaxing over all. There were a few moments when I wished the author had described the characters with more detail, but it doesn't change my overall feelings about the book. I'd recommend this to anyone!

Charming and delightful

I found this in Audible Plus and I'm hooked. Cozy is the word! A fun mystery with grannies, vampires, woolly cardigans, witches, and even a cat. What's not to love?

an easy story to enjoy

i enjoyed this story, especially the start and then little ways of bringing in the magic along the way. i listened in the evenings to forget the day before bed and it was great for that.

At times, the narration hit a kind of repetitive cadence/tone that didn't fit the story for me and i found it distracting for the second half. Character interactions were at times a little bit cringey but they were more often enjoyable than not.

This is a nice little escape and the author crafted an enjoyable a tale with vampires and witches.

Loved it

It’s a fantasy novel mixed with an English country side mystery. I loved it it was right up my alley. Good writing, never made me irritated at the narration.

Great book, rough narration

I almost DNFd this book during the first few minutes of the audio, but powered through because of the story. The narrator could not match the tone of the book; it felt rushed and hard to follow, accents all over the place. Hoping the rest of the series is recorded better. I really enjoyed the story - I needed some cozy mystery.

Loved the story but poor narration

Story was great! The narrator though did not pause throughout making the book seem like one long sentence.
