Story
Chosen from birth to usher in a new era, Poppy’s life has never been her own. The life of the Maiden is solitary. Never to be touched. Never to be looked upon. Never to be spoken to. Never to experience pleasure. Waiting for the day of her Ascension, she would rather be with the guards, fighting back the evil that took her family, than preparing to be found worthy by the gods. But the choice has never been hers.

Publisher's Summary
War is only the beginning...
From number one New York Times best-selling author Jennifer L. Armentrout comes book four in her Blood and Ash series.
From the desperation of golden crowns...
Casteel Da’Neer knows all too well that very few are as cunning or vicious as the Blood Queen, but no one, not even him, could’ve prepared for the staggering revelations. The magnitude of what the Blood Queen has done is almost unthinkable.
And born of mortal flesh...
Nothing will stop Poppy from freeing her King and destroying everything the Blood Crown stands for. With the strength of the Primal of Life’s guards behind her, and the support of the wolven, Poppy must convince the Atlantian generals to make war her way - because there can be no retreat this time. Not if she has any hope of building a future where both kingdoms can reside in peace.
A great primal power rises...
Together, Poppy and Casteel must embrace traditions old and new to safeguard those they hold dear - to protect those who cannot defend themselves. But war is only the beginning. Ancient primal powers have already stirred, revealing the horror of what began eons ago. To end what the Blood Queen has begun, Poppy might have to become what she has been prophesied to be - what she fears the most.
As the Harbinger of Death and Destruction.

This book was well worth the hype and the wait. I AM IN AWE of JLA. There are no words from me and I’m rarely ever speechless.
I simply cannot describe how good, intense, captivating, thrilling and how everything it is.
I hope to God this books series are made into a TV series.
It’s worth every penny I paid for it.
JLA did not disappoint with this one, almost like the grand finale.

grand finale
I enjoyed this thoroughly, but is it over yet?? The storyline is left on a cliffhanger. There must be more books right?! Clearly my desperation for more and for actual closure, let's you know that this was a great listen. I was surprised to have the addition of the make narrator, but really enjoyed his voice. Stina Nielsen is amazing and the only poppy that should ever be!! And the steamy parts...just listen to it!!!

Captivating
I thoroughly enjoyed this book (and series). The storyline, world building, and the romance are all spectacular. I was so invested in the characters and their evolution. Poppy is a dynamic heroine and she has a powerful guard and support in Cas, Kieran and her friends.

Over all, was enjoyable
I was a little let down after reading/listening to the first 3 books as I felt this one was a little rushed. But I did enjoy the book, it’s one of my favourite series. I did notice that when they are jumping between cas and keiren they only said Cassians name which threw me off and since i didn’t have the physical book in front of me I didn’t have a chance to check if it was an actual typo the narrator was reading or she just miss spoke. But again still enjoyed it.

loved it only had one problem
I love the story with well-written just like the last the only part I found jarring was the introduction of the new male voice for Cass not that it was bad but it was hard to get used to as I had grown used to the voice used in all the other books

I've been a fan since book 1 and was very excited for this audible release. I was very disappointed when I heard the Casteel had his own voice actor. It completely threw me off and I found it hard to figure out the which character was talking. I also had to change the reading speed from 1.04 to a .90 everytime the voice actor for Casteel was speaking. when he spoke it seemed so fast.
