À propos de cet audio
A groundbreaking mind-body protocol to heal chronic pain, backed by new research.
Chronic pain is an epidemic. Fifty million Americans struggle with back pain, headaches, or some other pain that resists all treatment. Desperate pain sufferers are told again and again that there is no cure for chronic pain.
Alan Gordon, a psychotherapist and the founder of the Pain Psychology Center in Los Angeles, was in grad school when he started experiencing chronic pain, and it completely derailed his life. He saw multiple doctors and received many diagnoses, but none of the medical treatments helped. Frustrated with conventional pain management, he developed Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), a mind-body protocol that eliminated his own chronic pain and has transformed the lives of thousands of his patients. PRT is rooted in neuroscience, which has shown that while chronic pain feels like it's coming from the body, in most cases it's generated by misfiring pain circuits in the brain. PRT is a system of psychological techniques that rewires the brain to break out of the cycle of chronic pain.
The University of Colorado Boulder recently conducted a large randomized controlled study on PRT, and the results are remarkable. By the end of the study, the majority of patients were pain-free or nearly pain-free. What's more, these dramatic changes held up over time. The Way Out brings PRT to listeners. It combines accessible science with a concrete, step-by-step plan to teach sufferers how to heal their own chronic pain.

Pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional. Musculoskeletal pain disorders have reached epidemic proportions in the United States, with most doctors failing to recognize their underlying cause, leaving patients desperate–and still in agonizing pain. Dr. Sarno reveals how many painful conditions–including most neck and back pain, migraine, repetitive stress injuries, whiplash, and tendonitises–are rooted in repressed emotions, and shows how they can be successfully treated without drugs, physical measures, or surgery.

The Work is simply four questions that, when applied to a specific problem, enable you to see what is troubling you in an entirely different light. As Katie says, "It's not the problem that causes our suffering; it's our thinking about the problem." Contrary to popular belief, trying to let go of a painful thought never works; instead, once we have done The Work, the thought lets go of us. At that point we can truly love what is, just as it is.

After a pain related breakdown I was gifted this book and it started my journey to serious recovery. I could relate so well to it I was in tears as I listened to it.
The book isn't a miracle, I had to put in hours of work but this book and alan Gordon's mobile app and work on YouTube gave me a roadmap. Finally something to work with.
Now in about 8 months I'm seriously improved from 20 years of pain that held me back from life and was spreading just as described in the book. I felt like a paraplegic because I couldn't use my limbs and do the things I loved without pain. I'm a new man, going on 40 and fitter than ever and moving more each day.
This book started my journey to recovery.

If you're on a similar path to recovery, I highly recommend immersing yourself in this audiobook. It's not just a source of information; it's a tool for transformation.
Make sure to also delve into Dr. Sarno's books, which serve as a foundational reference throughout this audiobook.
Keep an open mind, focus on the wisdom shared, and LET THE KNOWLEDGE BE THE CURE YOU’VE BEEN SEEKING. Good luck <3
