Story
Many years ago, Sir Aelfric and his nine companions saved the world, seizing the Dark Lord's cursed weapons, along with his dread city of Necrad. That was the easy part. Now, when Aelfric—keeper of the cursed sword Spellbreaker—learns of a new and terrifying threat, he seeks the nine heroes once again. But they are wandering adventurers no longer. Yesterday's eager heroes are today's weary leaders—and some have turned to the darkness, becoming monsters themselves. If there's one thing Aelfric knows, it's slaying monsters. Even if they used to be his friends.

Story
Minalan gave up a promising career as a professional warmage to live the quiet life of a village spellmonger in the remote mountain valley of Boval. It was a peaceful, beautiful little fief, far from the dangerous feudal petty squabbles of the Five Duchies, on the world of Callidore. There were cows. Lots of cows. And cheese. For six months things went well: He found a quaint little shop, he befriended the local lord, the village folk loved him, he found a sharp young apprentice to help out, and, best yet, he met a comely young widow with the prettiest eyes.

Story
The ancient magic of wizards was anything but dark. It was the enlightenment that lifted humanity from the squalor of superstition, and the worship of fell spirits and capricious gods, but those days are gone. The shining glory of the sorcerers burned away the subtlety of wisdom, replacing it with easy power, held only in the hands of the elite - a new age built upon the elemental supremacy of aristocrats and the ignorance of the masses.

From the moment Dara of Westwood spied the Silver Headed Raptor nesting in Rundeval Peak, the precocious redheaded 12-year-old girl was enchanted. The youngest daughter of the Master of the Wood lived in ramshackle Westwood Hall, in the independently minded Westwood estate of Sevendor. Her determination to capture a baby falcon and train it wasn’t hampered by the fact that Dara had never climbed a mountain, had never been trained in falconry, or even remotely had permission from her father to do it.

Sword and Sorcery that’s pretty low on swords.
The story didn’t really get going until the last few chapters. Very long set up with lots of minor characters. It took a long time to figure the world out and how it was organized. The story was fairly predictable and filled with fantasy tropes. The narrator does a fairly good job. Overall, if you like a slow moving story like Robert Jordan or Terry Goodkind you may like it. I’m not saying it was bad, just kind of boring. I found myself half listening in parts. I will listen to the next one to see if it gets better. I’m interested enough in some of the characters to not give up yet.

love it
I hadn't written any reviews when i started this series. I have now finished all of Michael Wisehart's books and am frustrated that I have caught up to him.
Please write faster but don't compromise your details.
The narrator is also fantastic. I checked back on some of my other books and saw his name on other favorites. Since I can't continue in this world until more is written, I am now going to search for books narrated by Tim Reynolds... ha... love his dark and sultry voice of a character introduced in later books... no spoilers!

Masterful battle scenes & witty internal dialogue.
The White Tower is written with an infectious enthusiasm for battle scenes that will have you gripped with anxiety and praying for things to work out. Many characters have a clever sense of humour that keeps the world fun (and helps to refresh the reader between bouts of pure evil)!
Don't start this book without first listening to the novella "Shackled - The Aldoran Chronicles Prequel". Trust me, it's 2+ hours of backstory that you'll want and enjoy. Be prepared to hate people (but you'll like that, too).
Tim's narration of this series could not be better and adds so much to the experience.
