Publisher's Summary

Broke, almost homeless, and recently fired. Those are my official reasons for answering a wanted ad for a skeevy-looking bartender gig.

It went downhill the moment they asked me to do a trial shift instead of an interview - to see if I'd mesh with their "special" clientele. I think that part went great. Their customers were complete dickheads, and I was an asshole right back. That's the definition of fitting in, right?

I expected to get thrown out on my ass. Instead, they...offered me the job?

It turns out this place isn't a bar. It's a guild. And the three cocky guys I drenched with a margarita during my trial? Yeah, they were mages. Either I'm exactly the kind of takes-no-sh-t bartender this guild needs, or there's a good reason no one else wants to work here.

So what's a broke girl to do? Take the job, of course - with a pay raise.

Make sure to check out the companion series, The Guild Codex: Demonized, available now, and The Guild Codex: Warped, coauthored by Rob Jacobsen.

Yes, just yes.

I was bored, I didn't have anything to read and judged a book by it's title. Who doesn't want a Margarita? I loved the sass and fast pace. It's an easy and entertaining listen. So much so that I had to buy the next book.

Sassy protagonist

Loved it! The plot is very intriguing and the character development is natural. I also love how it is set in Vancouver. Need to read the next book.

Refreshingly NEW storyline

I have listened to many Books in this Genre and this is by far the best one I have heard in quite a while.
I enjoyed the unique Storyline , The narrator kept me listening and picturing everything perfectly. If you are a fan of modern day story’s about the supernatural being a hidden part of Society. With Enticing Characters whom you actually Visualize as the Author describes them so Well, And most importantly a interesting New story line that makes you excited to see where this story will go with the Next Book. Than I suggest giving this book a try.
I can’t wait to listen to the Next book in this series.

I love it

this was the first book that got me to like aduiobooks because Chris Dukehart does really well with the narration she isn't monotone like a lot of the samples I've listened to on other books. She does very good with having different voices for the characters. I also love the story Ezra is deffently my favorite character Tori is pretty badass.

Great story if a little short

Good for those looking for a good read in the urban fantasy kind of style.

Perfect book for a long drive or binge

A great magical world meets mortal. Sassy and strong female lead, sexy guys, and family vibe with the guild. Love Marie's story and can't wait to read more.

Mispronunciations abound!

I would have given this story a higher rating but the narrator needs to check the pronunciation of words she’s not familiar with; the most egregious of which was “quay,” which is pronounced “key,” not “ qway “

Cute story, great performance

The performance made the story. It is a cute, feel good story for women who have struggled to find the right job.

I didn't walk away from it thinking about life. The Canadian setting felt a little forced and probably better to have set it in the USA since they don't cover anything like Drinking age or Police jurisdictions.

Her brother could have easily been a mountie and for a story about magic not leaning on the nature of the West coast was a waste.

but if you like the CW this book is well worth listening to.
