I almost stopped listening to this due to its somewhat creepy beginning. I’m glad I persevered though as it turned out to be a very interesting and unusual story set in 1926, a period of change and unrest in England. Good performances.

Took a bit to get into the story. Felt it could have been a bit shorter on initial background at beginning. Good read of British class politics in the era of the story. A good twist at the end. Ms. King is a very good story teller.

I enjoyed this book very much. Well written and very well performed. Interesting characters, some very likeable, some not so much. Twists and turns and surprising too. Will definitely listen to more by this author. A+++

This held you till the end, the characters were so real you felt you could ask them questions or in some way help. I totally recommend this book and the readers were great.
I am starting to LESTEN to all the other books by this author.

I found this title by searching for books read by Jefferson Mays as I enjoyed listening to him through the Expanse novels. His intonation, expression, and tone are never over-the-top or too blah. Just the right amount of accents and slight changes to his voice for the characters. And Laurie R. King is a consummate writer with plots that capture my interest and keep me guessing, at least a bit, until the end, I am grateful for the melding of two talents.
