Publisher's Summary
Reese Conlon’s much anticipated family leave for the birth of her child is jeopardized by the arrival of a federal task force on the hunt for a sex trafficker. And not just any purveyor of underage girls, but a US Senator and presidential hopeful.
With Provincetown the center of the investigation, one of her rookie cops drawn into the undercover op, and an Assistant US Attorney who never heard of teamwork, Reese has a hard time putting the personal before the professional. When the choice comes down to the lives of her officers against the promise she made to her wife, Reese puts everything she cares about on the line.

Honest opinion
I was reluctant to buy the book based on the reviews on Amazon. All that changed when the audio popped up with Lori Prince attached. I was use to Nicol Zanzarella narrating the prior books but the change here was likely needed to get through this book. Price can bring any book to life. This is probably my favorite audio of the series even though the subject matter is touchy in today’s climate. Not the best story of the series though. With all this said. Still a good audio to take a chance on, easy to get wrapped up in the story thanks to Ms. Prince

Good, but could have been better
A lot to unpack here. First, it really bugs me when the narrators switch in a series. I love most of Lori’s other works but after 7 Provincetown books narrated by Nicol Zanzarella, it was weird switching on book 8.
Second, this was not up to the normal p-town standards. The main characters were a bit lacking in depth of story and had so much left to give, especially regarding Andy’s background. Perhaps this has to do with the book itself. The publisher’s summary does not match the book by any means. Literally 2 completely different stories. It’s like Rad was writing one story, but after Covid hit, she quickly ditched that story and turned it into an epidemic-type story, and with the rush job it didn’t meet her normally exception story-telling skills.
Third, I was really hoping to hear about some of the prior characters. Several were in this book but they were literally just a name, with no updates or anything else about them besides Reese and Tori and a little bit of Bri.
Overall it was a good book, and had it come from any other author I would say it was a great book. But Rad has definitely done better work and after so long a wait, I’m a little disappointed.

How can you not love this book
I was wondering when the first pandemic book will come out, and I am glad it was Radclyffe who did, and I haven’t had a book from her for a long time, and as it is another one in the PTwon series makes it even better. Who doesn’t love Torri and Reese?
Excellent story, as usually well written, the new characters (and I will not spoil it) are wonderful.
Lastly Lori Prince is as good as ever.

Great story. Not so great narration.
I am a huge fan of the Provincetown series. I am so wrapped up in the characters and stories and love the way main characters appear in each story. I was so happy to see that Reese and Tori and all of everyone’s favorite people of Provincetown would be revisited. And I looked forward to Nichol Zanzarella would be back voicing Reese and Tori and Bri and everyone. She will always be the voice of these people to me. Radclyffe delivered big time. The decision to go with a different narrator? Not so much. I hate to criticize someone’s work but this was not good. Through no fault of her I believe. She clearly had no idea of Provincetown’s history. She gave Reese the voice and tone of a 45 year old male chauvinist pig. Reese is a hero to Provincetown and a marine who’s been in a war and all of the love she has for Tori would ever use those tones wither her! And everyone else sounded like valley girls. Very disappointed. I’m going to purchase the Kindle and read it. When I read character lines I’ll have to picture their voices in my head the way Nichol did them.

Hard story to rate (3.5 overall)
I am having a hard time rating this book because the summary has nothing to do with the book. I imagine it is an error but it made it hard to stay connected to the story. I kept waiting for the story that was described and about a third into the book, I realized this was a totally different story. It's been awhile since I've listened to the other books, so I was not as thrown off by the new narrator. Lori Prince, as always, did a great job of bringing life to the characters and made the book quite engaging. I liked the "Covid" story and the romance was good.

Meh
After binging the first 7 audiobooks, the narrator change really bugged me. I’m usually okay with Lori Prince but a lot of the voices sounded really whiny and it was irritating and distracting. The book was just kinda of disappointing anyway. Superficial story, the character interactions just seemed different, and lacking backstories. It honestly seemed like a different author all together.

Good but not the best
This book has very good narration and good story line but it could've been better. I felt like some was left out out. Not typical for this writer. when a subject is discussed more than once about someone then it's brought to light with Reese and talked about and worked out. Oh well not this book. But all in all still a food book.
