#1 BEST SELLER AMAZON.ca

A compelling and clear exploration of the power and peril of advanced artificial intelligence that provides actionable suggestions for all citizens to create a safer future with AI.

We are living in a world of rapid change and technological progress. Artificial intelligence is poised to be the most significant development to affect our lives now, and in the coming years.

More powerful than nuclear bombs and as impactful as electricity, fire, and oil rolled into one, advanced AI might bring us untold wonders but it could also be a threat to our jobs, our relationships, and our place in the world.

Is artificial intelligence dangerous? How does artificial intelligence work? Will artificial intelligence take over?

Uncontrollable uses engaging analogies and relatable examples to summarize AI for beginners, and unpacks AI risk and safety for readers without a technical background.

Uncontrollable examines artificial intelligence as a concept and technology, describes what AI is, how image generators and language models work, and how we don’t fully understand what is happening in these AI systems. It provides evidence to show that artificial superintelligence presents a risk to humanity, and demonstrates that it will be very difficult to understand, control, or align as it rapidly increases in capabilities and becomes more integrated into how we work, live, and play.

We are not prepared.

Yet, we can be.

Uncontrollable clearly communicates the urgency to act now and provides concrete suggestions for society and concerned citizens to create a safer future with AI.

Uncontrollable is a first-of-its-kind publication and call to arms to address the defining issue of our time.

Easy and Complete summary on the threat of AI

Darren McKee is the most brilliant and knowledgeable person that I know. He was my mentor on how to think better, namely evidence based reasoning and more linear. His goal is to do the most good in life, therefore he took time from his busy schedule to complete this book, as he felt an easy to read book on the threat of AI was needed and urgent. This book does not disappoint! I highly recommend!

Wonderfully Accessible primer on ASI Risk

McKee puts forward a very clear and stepwise argument for why AGI/ASI is a credible risk to society and humanity and what should be done about it.

For neophytes in the AI world, this book is very straightforward. McKee does a fabulous job breaking down complex and technical ideas into digestible points using metaphors and allegories. if you think this topic is too complex for you, please let this title convince you otherwise!

Great writing, though the audio book is a little robotic at 1.0 speed. At 1.2x it is quite enjoyable. As always, books read by their authors are a lovely treat as you can hear their emphasis and passion throughout.

I highly recommend this book. Enjoy!

Excellent review of AI safety issues

A clear, well written summary of the issues surrounding AI risk and safety. Not only does it present an accessible introduction to the issues, but offers practical advice on what we can all do to address them. I would recommend this book to just about anybody as a point of entry to this topic. The narration by the author is also excellent.

Good book poorly delivered

I like the author and I listen to TRC regularly. This is an important and interesting book that is made almost impossible to absorb due to the author’s reading of it. His halting monotone misrepresents nearly every sentence and left me struggling to follow what should be a fascinating subject. Ironically, this author would have been better served by a text-to-speech program. Everyone should read this book instead because struggling to listen to it is a waste of time.
