Publisher's Summary

Diana Gabaldon's magnificent historical saga, begun with Outlander and Dragonfly in Amber, continues with this New York Times best seller. Set in the intriguing Scotland of 200 years ago, the third installment in the romantic adventures of Jamie and Claire is as compelling as the first. Now that Claire knows Jamie survived the slaughter at Culloden, she is faced with the most difficult decision of her life. She aches to travel back through time again to find the love of her life, but, in order to do that, she must leave their daughter behind. It has been 20 years since she and Jamie were forced to separate. Can she risk everything, maybe even her life, on a gamble that their love has withstood the long, rigorous test of time?

Diana Gabaldon's powerful, witty, and heroic characters lend themselves well to the rich, melodic narration accorded them by Davina Porter. Under her spell, listeners find themselves transported back through time to exciting, faraway places alive with people they would enjoy knowing.

What the critics say

"Triumphant....Her use of historical detail and truly adult love story confirm Gabaldon as a superior writer." (Publishers Weekly)

Featured Article: The Best Female Narrators You Can Listen To All Day

When considering a new audiobook, one of the biggest questions listeners have is whether they’ll enjoy the narration style. This is understandable as audiobooks span at least a few hours, and sticking with one person’s voice for that period can feel like a big commitment. Luckily, there are so many excellent voice actors performing audiobooks that you might just find yourself gravitating to certain audiobooks based solely on the narrator’s strength.

My favourite in the series

Absolutely fantastic book.... Diana Gabaldon is a true master of story telling. Her books are so well researched and beautifully written, she engulfs you in the action.
Davina Porter is a true genius at narration.
My favourite quotes from the book...

“It has always been forever, for me, Sassenach.”

“Faith is as powerful a force as science- but far more dangerous.”

“I trust you won’t take this the wrong way but why aren’t you dead?”

If your interested , please, read the whole series.... it’s life changing

fantastic

Great history and romance...love the continuing story of Claire...but sometimes Gabaldon gets too long winded...like in all the novels...omitting the 1st Outlander....couldn't be better!

Reading the series looked overwhelming….

But listening to the first two books made it impossible for me to not go on through the story. The Outlander series has me in a spell. D.Porter has such a lovely narration voice and wide range of reading expressions that it’s nearly impossible to find a good place to stop during the 40 hour listen!

IN LOVE WITH AUDIBLE

I love the Outlander series. The books, the TV Show.
I also love to read, but I find it hard to find the time to sit down for more than 10 minutes. It took me about a year to get to part 8 in the book. I found Audible, and listened to the book from beginning to end, and I just love Davina Porter narrating the book. It brings the book more to life than just reading.

Simply amazing.

The amazing historical epic romantic adventure continues with Clare returning to her time. The story is passionate, emotional and beyond romantic. The storyline flows quickly and smoothly and is an emotional rollercoaster that takes the reader on a adventure through time and the heart. It was a difficult book to put down as it captured my imagination. The writing is superb and the characters are so alive. I can hardly wait to read the next book. The performance added a great deal to the overall experience.
