Publisher's Summary

The Smallest Mistake

Three went in; one came out. For five years, no trace has been found of two high-school friends who went hiking in the woods near Nashville. The third teen, Amber Ryder, was discovered at the bottom of a ravine with a broken arm, head trauma - and zero memory of the horror that put her there.

Will Put You

What started as a cold case has become a fresh hell for forensic technician Georgia Morgan. Another woman's body is found in the woods, and it leads to the missing teens' remains. But while Georgia works with Amber to try and reawaken her memories, her gut tells her the worst is yet to come.

At a Killer's Mercy

Homicide Detective Jake Bishop can't be sure whether Amber is an expert manipulator or the killer's next target. Either way, he's determined to protect Georgia. Because the deeper she digs into the past, the deadlier the secrets that emerge, and a nightmare years in the making is about to come to a bloody, terrifying end....

couldn't finish. narration was terrible.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

the narrator

Would you be willing to try another book from Mary Burton? Why or why not?

sure, I have enjoyed many books by Mary Burton and was looking forward to Vulnerable. I can't give an honest review of the story because I couldn't get past the narration. I didn't finish the book.

Disappointing..

I have a great appreciation for the hard work and dedication that go into writing a book as well as performing it but this series left me extremely disappointed. Carrying the same characters through each book but having a different, progressively less pleasing, narrator really made me lose taste for the characters by the end. I finished each book because I enjoyed the plot/story but that's it.

This book left me wanting to return it very early on. Karen White did these characters justice in Cover your Eyes. I wish they had stayed with her throughout the series.

Couldn't Finish

I feel terrible leaving such a bad review, but I had been SO excited to finally get to Georgia and Bishop's story. But the narrator... She was just really, really bad. I have been binge-ing on Mary Burton's books over the last week, and this was the first one that I couldn't finish -- insanely frustrating, because, like I said, I was wicked excited for Georgia and Bishop. So much sad face.

what the hell did I just listen to?

ok so I love this series, but what the hell was this book about the main character was like a 8 years old so the sex scene was a little uncomfortable. I think that if you have a series why can't there be just one person who reads them ? this was the worst book of these series please please don't let this woman read another book!!!!! oh and you find out your friend was beat to death and you just want to hump your brains out? oh and the maid!!! what the heck she sounds like nacho libra!!!! I cant take it ....

Great book, horrible narrator

The story was great! The narrator was awful! Made the characters sound young and extremely uneducated. Had this not been the final book in a series I would have returned it. She made it very hard to listen to the book. Tone and inflection was off more than it was on. I would like to read one Mary Burton book where the leading female doesn't need to be rescued by the leading male.

No Surprises

Very disappointed. Too many same adjectives used. He said, she said, used after a conversation which sounded very awkward. I knew early on the ending, so no surprise. Not her best work. I usually love her books but not this one. I will continue to read her books.

Disappointing

I was very excited to hear Georgia's story and so disappointed when I listened to it. The narrator has a good voice but, maybe just not for this book. She adopted a baby voice when Georgia spoke and it just didn't seem to mesh with the character. I get that she is kind of brat as the baby of the Morgan siblings but, the voice made it seem like she was a four year old. It was very hard to get through. It may have influenced how I felt about the book also. I feel like out of the Morgans only one of the brothers didn't come off like a jerk in the series and in this book they all seemed like big, arrogant jerks. The ending seemed rushed and the romance didn't flow very well. Honestly the whole book seemed rushed.I enjoy most of Mary Burton's books. They are typically a good "read" while working.
