A queen now in exile as a traitor, Lara has watched Ithicana be conquered by her own father, helpless to do anything to stop the destruction. But when she learns her husband, Aren, has been captured in battle, Lara knows there is only one reason her father is keeping him alive: as bait for his traitorous daughter. And it is bait she fully intends to take. Risking her life to the Tempest Seas, Lara returns to Ithicana with a plan not only to free its king, but for liberating the Bridge Kingdom from her father’s clutches using his own weapons: the sisters whose lives she spared.

Drawn out
Everything that could happen in the story line did. So eventually it just felt really long and drawn out, where I was just half listening to it just to find out what happened to the characters. I would have recommend this book series but after listening to the last book I’m not sure.

Somewhat entertaining?
I wonder if I would have enjoyed the story more if there were different narrators. There is a disconnect between the narrators and they differed in how each pronounced the same names, which threw me off a bit. Also, Erin Moon says some words with a French accent, and not others and the inconsistency annoyed me. The accents she gave to other characters were odd and strained, and in my opinion, didn't suit the characters at all. Maybe it was the narration that killed this series for me. I found myself just waiting for the trilogy to end so I could be done, but I didn't want to abandon it after investing time into listening to the story. If I had known in the beginning what I know now, I wouldn't have purchased this audiobook.

Not as good as the first two.
The final book of the trilogy left me irritated through most of the story. I struggled with all the self defeating thoughts and lack of complexity to the storyline. The first two books were much better but this last book left me wanting something different.

Excellent story, interesting characters brought to life by narrators who made each and every character uniqueness in recognition of their voices. I hate that they changed how some names were pronounced from the first 2 books!
But a great trilogy all together and. Great ending that had me crying for the entire last hour of the book.
