Publisher's Summary

Compelling and straight-shooting wisdom for coping with whatever challenges life throws at us from the New York Times best-selling author of Unfu*k Yourself.

In Unfu*k Yourself, Gary John Bishop taught millions of listeners how to silence the negative, self-sabotaging voice in their head to thrive. In Wise as Fu*k, he expands on his ideas, redefining what it means to be wise and showing how to tackle problems and improve our lives and those of others.

When the storms of life hit us, many of us don’t know what to do - whether it’s losing a job, suffering a broken heart, or just feeling a lack of purpose. We need wisdom to help us navigate forward.

While the internet is full of seemingly good advice, it isn’t helping us actually change our lives. Wise as Fu*k breaks through the bullshit, providing insight to inspire us in the four areas we need it most: love, loss, fear, and success.

Written with his widely admired no-nonsense style, Wise as Fu*k provides a welcome fresh perspective to help us transform how we approach a variety of life’s problems. But Bishop makes clear, the work doesn’t stop there. Now that you’ve unfu*ked yourself and and are wise as fu*k about these touchy areas, you can apply the lessons to make a positive impact on the world.

The brutally honest friend you wish you had

I have read Gary's previous 2 books and enjoyed both of them. Even though I felt it to a great degree in his earlier works, this book felt like it was Gary talking to me personally. Like he had somehow gained access to my thoughts, as if he was watching me through the looking glass.

It was uncomfortable, a lot. I caught myself yelling "fuck" numerous times when he hit me with what I thought was my secret, my darkness, what no one else knew about me. Fucking Gary knows apparently.

A very eye opening read/listen. It has prompted me to buy the physical copy as well so I can have it as a daily reference.

Action, behaviour, responsibility, all the usual suspects are here. It's Gary's delivery, his ability to truly understand what makes people tick that separates him from the pack in this crowded field of "self help". In a world of apologists, liars, conmen, and weakness, Gary might very well be the light at the end of the tunnel.

Highly recomended.

Listening to these books on the way to work make a huge difference in how I view my life. I listen to them over and over again. Mix them up. Love the narrator.

NOTHING NEW

I've listened to his previous 3 books. My favorites were the 1st and 2nd. the 3rd was getting a little stale and this one is no new info.

Fantastic easy read

I’m no snowflake. This had my eyes watering with self awareness. It’s the kind of thing you need to listen to several times and it will never get old. Well done Gary!

Writer has massive Chip on shoulder

I put up with listening to this, as the book progressed it was just plain that the author has a huge grudge against critics. Why bother air it in the book? Get over it dude, show how you would overcome challenges to your opinion...it's just an opinion by the way, your work is largely not good advice. Cursing and swear words, F- bombs all over don't impress...if you can't express adequately in plain English, without appearing as an ill-bred hard-man who has a filthy mouth, then you can't trick most people. Returning this, couldn't even find any "good bits" after fast-forwarding the entire book.

The pep talk we all need.

I may be biased as I’ve literally written a program called “Be.Do.Have: The way of rethinking happiness” but this book is bang on! I loved pretty much every word of it. It flowed beautifully, was very understandable and relatable, and, without fluff, gets right to the core of how we can be.

Modern Stoicism

Like many of the philosophers in the past, Bishop shares mindsets to build strengths and confidence in any area.

Winning!

I so needed to hear this, in this exact way. The emotion behind the words being spoken helped me relate to them even more.
