Are you a food lover and also a trivia enthusiast? Then, World Food & Drinks Trivia is the best choice on the menu!

Food is a universal language. It’s something that everyone understands well. So, with this trivia book, get ready to take a culinary trip around the world.

You will be making a salivating journey through six continents: Asia, Europa, Africa, North America, South America, and Australia. This book will test your knowledge about the world’s great dishes. It’s the perfect companion to spice up your knowledge of food or to provide the right game questions for your next foodie after-dinner game.

And don’t worry about experiencing any communication gaps or language barriers. We’re only going to be talking in one language here: food!

You will get a taste of questions like:

  • Netherlands: Breaking away from its popular Belgian cousin, this delicious Dutch pastry is a slim wafer cookie that is made out of two very thin layers of dough that sandwich a spread of caramel jam or filling. Arguably, this sweet treat has evolved to become one of the best offerings of Dutch cuisine. The dough that is used for this dish is made out of flour, brown sugar, butter, eggs, yeast, and milk. The dough is then pressed with a hot iron to make sure that it is thin and crispy. Then caramel syrup is spread in between two layers of cooked dough to conjoin the two separate pieces together. Usually, one would place these cookies atop a cup of hot tea or coffee to let the steam heat up the caramel filling inside. What is the Dutch name for this sweet wafer?
  • Cuba: Born in Havana, Cuba, this drink has grown to become one of the most sought-after alcoholic beverages in the world. At its core, it's defined to be a Cuban highball. This is a cocktail that only has five basic ingredients. However, many bartenders and mixologists all over the world will add or take away a few ingredients here and there to make it their own. Traditionally, the five ingredients that make up this dish are: white rum, sugar, mint, soda water, lime juice, and mint. It is also typically served over ice in a highball glass or a Collins glass. The refreshing essence of the mint and lime juice, along with the cooling nature of the ice, make this a very popular drink for the summertime. What is this world-renowned drink called?
  • India: This is another one of those dishes wherein multiple ethnicities might claim to be its originator. However, the most widely accepted place of origin for this dish would be India. This dish showcases bite-sized chunks of chicken meat that is bathed in a spicy sauce. To marinate the chicken, the meat is coated in spices and yogurt prior to roasting in an oven. Once the chicken is cooked, it is then added to the spicy sauce that makes this dish unique. The sauce is made up of coconut cream and tomato puree as a base. It is then flavored with various spices and herbs to bring out that distinct curry flavor that is common in a lot of dishes from the region. What is this tasteful dish called?

Fun afternoon with friends!

Even though there are more food questions than questions about drinks, I still liked it. Had a fun afternoon with my friends trying to answer these questions. I do like the fact the writer gives some background information in the question itself. Gives you a lot of clues on what the dish might be.

Enjoyed it!

I was interested in learning new dishes from around the world and this book definitely delivered! I recognized a couple of the dishes from my neck of the woods, but also missed a few. The African culture was the hardest I felt, also because of not knowing how to pronounce the words. In spite of that, I enjoyed this trivia book.

Great book!

I bought this book for my boyfriend as a gift for his birthday. He is crazy about food and is super excited with his gift. He can’t put the book down and told me he learned so many things already. He wants me to play the quizzes with him but I don’t know anything about food. But this was definitely a good buy!

For beginners AND experts

This book is a great one for experienced chefs and hobby cooks with extensive knowledge! I know a little something about cooking and answered many of the questions. But I also learned a couple of new dishes. This book is a fun game to play with people knowledgeable on food. I had a great time answering the questions.

Delivers on its promise!

I love the fact this trivia book isn’t the easiest. I can listen to the questions over and over again and every time I will learn something new. A trivia book where you already know the answers upfront is not much fun! This book definitely delivers on its promise of ‘a learning component’ and the ability to test myself on how well my food knowledge is. And not just knowledge of native dishes and drinks, but also different cultures and different parts of the world.

A fun game of pronouncing!

Educational and fun to do with your relatives on weekends! We also had a lot of fun pronouncing the names of the dishes, some of them are really hard. But it made for a fun afternoon with my family. I also loved that it’s not only about food, but drinks as well. There are so many tasty drinks out there that are not well known to a lot of people. Some of them are mentioned in this book. I will read this book many times over to get to know all the dishes and maybe even try to make some of those myself.

Culture, education AND trivia all in one!

This book is definitely a way of learning new cultures and their way of eating. So many dishes I want to try out for myself now. Dishes I had never heard of. This book taught me a lot of new things, which I didn’t think a trivia book could do. Loved it!

Educational trivia book on food and drinks!

Even though this book is a trivia questions book, it is definitely an educational book on food and drinks. I learned so many new things, I can’t wait to go to the supermarket and buy some of these things to cook with. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in food!
