Zeitlos, spannend, poetisch - Hövergnügen für die ganze Familie. England 1758. Im alten Seemannsgasthaus "Admiral Benbow" wohnt ein Junge mit Namen Jim. Eines Tages taucht Bill Bones, ein unheimlicher Säufer, auf. Er hat eine Kiste dabei, erzählt gruselige Geschichten und beauftragt Jim, nach einem Mann mit Holzbein Ausschau zu halten. Zwei merkwürdige Gestalten tauchen auf. Sie suchen Bones und die Karte einer Insel, auf der ein kostbarer Piratenschatz versteckt sein soll.

Wer Mark Twains Kinderbücher "Tom Sawyers Abenteuer und Streiche" und "Huckleberry Finn" gelesen hat, wird sich freuen, eines der vielen Abenteuer der beiden kleinen Freunde auf einem Hörbuch nacherleben zu können. Die Geschichte um den Mord an Dr. Robinson und wie es Tom und Huck schaffen, ihren Freund Muff Potter zu befreien und den wahren Mörder zu entlarven - das ist einfach spannend zu hören, da fiebert man mit. Die auf dem Hörbuch präsentierte Inszenierung wurde mit Sprechern des Deutschen Theater Berlin aufgenommen.

Huck Finn lebt bei der Witwe Douglas. Sie hat ihn bei sich aufgenommen, weil Hucks Mutter tot und sein Vater ein Trinker ist. Huck fühlt sich nicht wohl bei der Witwe. Er reißt aus und entschließt sich, sein Leben selbst in die Hand zu nehmen. Er trifft den schwarzen Sklaven Jim, der ebenfalls aus dem Haushalt der Witwe Douglas getürmt ist.

She participates in the wedding, but disappears from the reception.The events of the wedding day are most perplexing to Lord St. Simon as it seemed to him that his bride, Miss Hatty Doran of San Francisco, was full of enthusiasm about their impending marriage.

The Adventure of the Engineer's Thumb, one of the 56 short Sherlock Holmes stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, is the ninth of the twelve stories collected in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. The story was first published in Strand Magazine in March 1892. Dr. Watson notes that this is one of only two cases which he personally brought to the attention of Sherlock Holmes.

The culprits turn out to be those pursuing the libel situation back east. She is threatened with possible death, but not only solves the fur racket but winds up scooping a rival reporter.
