Lunedì 8 gennaio 2001, verso le sette di sera, nel giardino di Villa Altachiara a Portofino, scompariva la contessa Francesca Vacca Agusta, per anni protagonista del jet set italiano e internazionale. Prendeva il via quella sera un'indagine che avrebbe riempito le cronache di giornali e tv per settimane, mesi e anni, senza soluzione né requie neppure quando, una ventina di giorni più tardi, il cadavere venne ritrovato in mare, a pochi metri da una baia in Costa Azzurra.

Dieser ‚Koffermord' an einem Pariser Gerichtsvollzieher konnte mithilfe intensiver Zeugenbefragungen aufgeklärt werden. Er ging aber auch wegen der Leistungen der beteiligten Gerichtsmediziner und Detektive in die Geschichte der Kriminalistik ein.
