Reise um die Erde in 80 Tagen (auch In 80 Tagen um die Welt, In achtzig Tagen um die Erde, Die Wette des Phileas Fogg oder Der Wettlauf des Phileas Fogg) ist ein Roman des französischen Autors Jules Verne. Der Roman wurde erstmals am 30. Januar 1873 unter dem französischen Titel Le Tour du monde en quatre-vingts jours von dem Verleger Pierre-Jules Hetzel veröffentlicht. Die erste deutschsprachige Ausgabe erschien im selben Jahr im Verlag der Gebrüder Légrády in Pest unter dem Titel Reise um die Erde in 80 Tagen.

Diese Kurzgeschichte erschien 1879 als Anhang der VE 18 mit dem Buch "Die 500 Millionen der Begum". Die Story ist vielen bekannt: Das bewaffnete Transport- und "Forschungs"-Schiff "Bounty" verlässt 1787 den englischen Hafen Porthmouth. Ihr Kommandant, Leutnant Bligh soll auf den noch unerforschten Südseeinseln, die auch schon damals der Inbegriff des irdischen Paradieses waren, Schößlinge des Brotfruchtbaumes holen. Sie sollten später in Westindien angepflanzt werden.

"Die Schiffbrüchigen des Luftmeeres" ist der erste Band von Jules Vernes Fortsetzungsroman "Die geheimnisvolle Insel". Die Handlung nimmt auch Bezug auf die zuvor erschienen Jules Verne Werke "20.000 Meilen unter dem Meer" und "Die Kinder des Kapitän Grant". - Der Roman erzählt die Geschichte von fünf Menschen auf einer unbekannten Insel im Pazifik.

In the Year 2889 by Jules Verne is a diary of the observations of Fritz Napoleon Smith, the editor of an influential futuristic newspaper. It is an action-packed tale of technological advances and science fiction scenarios. Some of the predictions were remarkably accurate.
