D'Artagnan, jeune gascon courageux et rusé, est muni d'une lettre de recommandation de son père pour M. de Tréville, commandant des Mousquetaires. Très vite, il devient l'ami de trois gentilshommes, mousquetaires du roi, Athos, Porthos et Aramis. Tous quatre vont sauver la reine Anne d'Autriche des perfides manœuvres de Richelieu. Des aventures semées d'embûches qui ne feront pas renoncer les quatre compères.

On connait Alexandre Dumas pour ses nombreux romans universellement reconnus. Mais on sait moins qu'il fut féru d'Histoire et écrivit aussi de nombreux livres historiques. Cette biographie de Jules César, menée avec une exceptionnelle virtuosité, est le parfait exemple de l'art littéraire de Dumas. D'une biographie qui pourrait paraître au premier abord aride, il nous mène dans les dédales de la grande Histoire avec sa fougue littéraire.

Der Graf von Monte Christo – Band 2 ist ein Abenteuerroman von Alexandre Dumas dem Älteren. Zwischen 1844 und 1846 veröffentlichte Dumas den Graf von Monte Christo als Fortsetzungsroman in der Zeitschrift Le Journal des débats und erzielte damit ungeahnten Erfolg. Noch bevor der Roman fertiggestellt war, erschienen bereits die ersten Nachdrucke, gefolgt von immer neuen Übersetzungen in zahlreiche Sprachen. In 1844, Alexandre Dumas published The Three Musketeers, a novel so famous and still so popular today that it scarcely needs introduction. Shortly thereafter he wrote a sequel, Twenty Years After, that resumed the adventures of his swashbuckling heroes. Later, toward the end of his career, Dumas wrote The Red Sphinx, another direct sequel to The Three Musketeers that begins not 20 years later but a mere 20 days afterward. The Red Sphinx picks up right where the The Three Musketeers left off.
