After nearly four years, the zombie epidemic has almost burnt itself out. Gus' new life on a communal farm is peaceful. In the spring of 1903, the 311, known to locals as “The Majestic”, carried more than 100 passengers on board toward a tunnel mouth that would allow the 13-car locomotive to pass safely through the underbelly of the Canadian Rockies. The tunnel swallowed the 311 whole, and the train - and everyone on it - were never seen again. 

On the island of Big Tancook, Collie Jones is making plans. She informs the islanders that it’s time to resume her original mission - to find other survivors, screen them, and return them to the island. Every survivor she brings back is one more valuable addition to the skill and gene pool. But first, she must return to the place whence she came. She must secure the elaborate government bunker called Whitecap and its vast stores of munitions within.

After a long day of prepping a house for painting, all Gus Berry wanted was the night off to spend some time with his girlfriend and relax before having to return to work the next morning. But that isn’t going to happen. Because Gus’s co-worker Benny has found a one-night job at the local Mollymart East, a job that has to be done by morning. If Gus and his paint crew can complete the work by then, it could mean huge business with a respected, established grocery store chain.

"Mountain Man" Augustus Berry is a survivor in undead suburbia. He scavenges what he can from what's left over. He is very careful in what he does and where he goes, taking no chances, no unnecessary risks, and weighing every choice...until he decides to visit the hospital at the edge of town, and experiences terror the likes he's never encountered before.

Not only are groups of human hunters after him, whole werewolf packs have orders to kill him on sight, forcing him to flee Halifax without identification, money, weapons, or even his phone. If he wants to survive, he'll have to evade the killers on his trail, travel across the country to confront the elusive elders, and learn the truth behind the order that made him what he is.

While the gladiators fight within the Pit, Brozz fights for his life in a much different arena. Escaping an attempt on his life, Borchus finds refuge with an old friend.

Desperate for aid, the king dispatches a company of soldiers to the north in a desperate plea for help from its neighbors. A Sunjan cavalier called Bloor has the unenviable task of protecting a mysterious and heavily armored koch destined for the northern kingdom.

Feeling the weight of sustained injuries, Halm decides upon his future with the Ten, which prompts a crippled Pig Knot to contemplate his own remaining days. An act of vengeance drives Borchus into hiding. Within the underbelly of the Pit, arrangements are made to introduce Sunja’s most despised and dangerous criminals into the games, including a captured group of Nordish Jackals.

The warriors comprising the House of Ten begin training under punishing mentors and a drink-loving taskmaster. Within the city of Sunja itself, Borchus works to establish a network of spies to aid the newly formed house’s cause. 

Mad. Brutal. Unpredictable. And those are their good points. Vicious. Hateful. Foul-mouthed and bad tempered...He-Dog and Balless are all of these and more. And as mercenaries go, they have a stubborn sense of honor. A sense of honor that has once again landed them into a cauldron of mayhem. After an unfit night of drinking, which might have involved firewater, He-Dog and Balless accept a mission that no one wanted. To travel for days through a scorching desert to the glittering city of Foust and deliver a message scroll to the city’s ruler.

Miracles are happening. Pray to God they stop. In the dead of winter, on a highway in Quebec, a man crashes his car and survives. In New York, a homeless person is run over by a bus and lives. In Tokyo, a teenager jumps off a high rise building and fails in taking her own life. All over the world, miracles like these transpire, and people breathe a sigh of relief. But for the next week, some people will begin to suspect a terrible truth. A handful will even search for it. One man will find it. And in seven days, all hell will break loose.
