He was also a freak forged from the DNA of a bull shark-blue-gray skin, a body built with power, and a double-set of razor-sharp teeth. His nomadic lifestyle came to a halt when his employer, the Earthian Planetary Exploration Division, offered him his old job back. Rylie was born and raised on the planet Kepler, on an agri-lot that farmed jewels from the sea. But something was happening to her family's lots and people were disappearing.

For the past century, I have served, defending my crops in solitude, baring my scythe as an omen. But when the crops aren't seeded, I find myself standing over a field of dirt and weeds. It is her fault. The female who has inherited the farm. She might be the new queen of these lands, but in her wake, she brings only ruin. So, I will scare her away. I will claim these fields, and she will learn to fear me! Until one evening, she is attacked by the crows. She cowers behind me for protection, begging them to spare her life.

Long have we been alone; without brides, without females to warm us during the long nights, without sweet mates. But we see them from afar, the brides that could be ours. Kept away from us by walls and weapons. Females we long for greatly...obsessively. Human females. And the one with red hair? I want her. I saw her first. I will fight to the death for her. She is mine. So, we’ll come together and make an exchange with their men that will benefit us all. After that? To the winner goes the spoil. Let the hunt begin...but the red-headed female is mine.

Daisy. Daisy. Daisy. From the moment her name is spoken, it is all I can hear.  Her frightened tears bring me anger; I vow to wipe them off her face and banish her fear...to make her my queen. She remains with a male that does not deserve her. This beautiful, enchanting creature with long black braids and bright eyes needs a real male, a master, a true protector. She needs me. I have lost my chance to claim a bride. No more females remain. They have all been taken by naga males that will kill to keep them. So, when I hear a female scream within my territory, I do not hesitate. I go after her, intending to claim her for my own and prove my strength. My worth. This is my chance.
