Summary

Discover the uplifting and inspiring tale of Holocaust survivor and Auschwitz-Birkenau tattooist Ludwig Sokolov in a story of courage and bravery in the face of inhumanity.

The Tattooist of Auschwitz is an acclaimed novel based on real-life interviews and historical accounts. It details the life and actions of Ludwig Lale Sokolov through one of the darkest and most hateful periods of human history. Though rooted in heavy subject matter, the story brings a levity with its sense of hope and courage, exemplified through Solkov's exceptional acts of bravery. Internationally best-selling author Heather Morris expertly balances the subject matter, giving the horrific atrocities the gravity they deserve while infusing this story of survival with humanity and possibility.

A much loved and acclaimed book, the extraordinary story of The Tattooist of Auschwitz is perhaps even more affecting and impactful in audiobook form. The novel is narrated by Richard Armitage, who delivers an impressive performance. Armitage's clear, crisp voice pairs excellently to the narrative, adding the appropriate amount of weight and seriousness, without letting the story become too heavy or dragging. His stately British accent and mature tone compliment the author's words and style.

The Tattooist of Auschwitz is book one in the series, and after its great success was followed up with two additional titles. Cilka's Journey, the second in the series, follows the incredible story of a beautiful 16-year-old girl singled out from other women prisoners in the Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp. The novel is narrated by Louise Brealey, whose calm English accent mirrors the style and tone of Armitage, while simultaneously being a more appropriate choice for the voice of Cilka. Though rooted in the horrors of the Holocaust, Cilka's Journey offers an uplifting personal story of determination and resilience.
