My first book for children, Monster Hunting For Beginners, tells the tale of Jack, who has always longed to meet some monsters and finally gets his chance when he becomes apprentice to a grumpy 200 year old monster hunter called Stoop, and together they set off for a town in Cornwall called King's Nooze, which is being menaced by an Ogre... and possibly more. The second book in the Monster Hunting series, Monsters Bite Back, takes Jack and Stoop and the third member of their monster hunting team, Nancy, to Scotland where the nuns of Muckle Abbey are being plagued by an invasion of mischievous little creatures known as Lubbers. If our heroes don't find a way to deal with the problem, it could mean THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT. But probably not because then there wouldn't be a third book, and there definitely is going to be one - with the title soon to be revealed. I live in Northern Ireland, and there is nothing interesting about me whatsoever apart from the fact that I write about monsters. I spend most of my time trying to decide if the best book ever written is Enid Blyton's Book Of Brownies or Virginia Woolf's The Waves. It's definitely one or the other, but my mind changes daily as to the correct answer. One day, I hope to write a book a fraction as good as either of them. The exact size of the fraction is yet to be decided.
