Decent listen
Interesting story to follow and a different style compared to what I am used to. Though I found it entertaining.
The narrator while okay I found flat sometimes and distracted from listening to the story. This was because the story is set in Britain and the narrator has an NA accent.

Great book!
I like the way the author follows multiple characters through multiple situations and that they are just average people trying to get through tough times

Worth a listen.
Well written book that has a great story line. I also like the narrator. I’m on to the next book in the series.

Imaginative. Miscast.
Ryan Casey envisions a civilization-ending scenario where a massive solar flare knocks out electricity & telecommunications, freezes internal combustion engines, causes airplanes to fall out of the sky, and makes Cardiac Pacemakers malfunction. Within hours, the scumbags & sociopaths hiding in plain sight in society start taking advantage of the chaos to start beating, robbing, and murdering their neighbors. Casey tells the story through the eyes of five strikingly average people [with the exception of one amateur "prepper", everyone is essentially dumbfounded (don't expect any Special Forces operators or Research Scientists in this one)].
On the one hand, the book is refreshingly relatable..
..but on the other, the plot is basically "survive" - no more complicated than that. 'Lights Out' is misanthropic & disappointingly uncaptivating.
Tantor Audio doesn't help the situation by casting American voice actor Gabriel Vaughan, either. Vaughan is extremely professional - providing spot-on diction, a comfortable timbre and cadence, and creditable voice-acting - but besides reading too slowly (I recommend listening at 1.20X for the best experience), he can't perform what he's given. Lines like "check in the boot", "watch out for the lorry!", "put on your trainers", and "look under the crisp packets" just sound odd without a British accent. This story set in the English countryside should have been voiced by an English actor.
Altogether, this audiobook was a reasonable way to while away a couple of quiet afternoons - as a 'Plus' option. Spending a Credit on this 5.5/10-star book, however, would be a challenge to defend.

Unrealistic scenarios
The writer is trying to be too preachy about the attempts by the various protagonists to be a better person. It becomes annoying.
The one scenario is utterly ridiculous! The Character Logan the Butcher is supposed to have been incarcerated and falsely accused of murdering a family.
When we finally find out what happened, it's totally ridiculous. When Logan goes to the home of, and confronts the gangster who murdered his family...the Gangster has a hand gun...but instead of just shooting Logan, he tells Logan that he's gonna do this so that Logan will be blamed He then shoots his own daughter and wife, then shoots himself committing suicide...and Logan is blamed.....utterly RIDICULOUS!
What gangster would be so desperate to implicate the husband of a family he destroyed by selling drugs to them, to kill himself and his own family....if it wasn't such a bad storyline it would be hilarious.
I won't be buying the sequel!

Free listen, ok for what I paid lol
The story is an interesting premise.
The story is set in England but the narrator is American. The narrator would be fine for a story set in America/Canada but the locations and slang used in the story clash with this accent.
All the protagonists are very focused on being better people following the disaster which is commendable, but the story would be more palatable if some of them continued to be unsavory characters.

Great but the Voice
Story was great! Loved how it kept me constantly coming back to listen more. The only thing I would change is to have the voice actor have a British accept cause I did not even know they were in these different location of the book or I would forget after a bit due to the american accept of the voice actor. I feel like it would give it a bit of pizzaz idk :) but overall really good. This is my first audiobook and it did not disappoint.

Falls short
Set in Britain, but the narrator's American accent really spoils it. Protagonists are unlikeable, annoying, and flat.
