This is a book about what it feels like to sit in your studio or classroom, at your wheel or keyboard, easel or camera, trying to do the work you need to do. It is about committing your future to your own hands, placing free will above predestination, choice above chance. It is about finding your own work.

informative
it wasn't a bad listen, and pretty good advice on how to manage an art career.
I kinda wish it was broken up into something more organized, and better chapter names.
like having the first half of the book be for illustrators and the second half be for gallery artists. because often I'd be skipping around to hear something that applied to me.
but I recommend this to any artist wanting to be more on top of the logistical side of being an artist.
also I wish she had more emotion in her voice, but I guess her tone makes sense for pretty much an institution book.

Not what I was looking for
Basic arts overview - fine but not what I was looking for. And it’s a little outdated

Basic, but nice
I don't think I learnt anything new in this book, and it wasn't particularly inspiring. But I can listen to people talk about art business all day long, so I don't really have any complaints either!

Monotone
After listening to a more upbeat artist author this one was disappointing & lifeless. Extremely monotone. You’d think being an artist she’d be more enthusiastic speaking about her work. Nothing profound was described in the book. The usual, ‘get a website, make business cards, make connections wherever you go.’
