Story
In the 25th century, humankind has spread throughout the galaxy, monitored by the watchful eye of the U.N. While divisions in race, religion, and class still exist, advances in technology have redefined life itself. Now, assuming one can afford the expensive procedure, a person's consciousness can be stored in a cortical stack at the base of the brain and easily downloaded into a new body (or "sleeve") making death nothing more than a minor blip on a screen.

Twenty years ago, it was as if someone turned on a light. The future blazed into existence with each deliberate word that William Gibson laid down. The winner of Hugo, Nebula, and Philip K. Dick Awards, Neuromancer didn't just explode onto the science fiction scene - it permeated into the collective consciousness, culture, science, and technology.Today, there is only one science fiction masterpiece to thank for the term "cyberpunk," for easing the way into the information age and Internet society.

James Kincaid is the type of guy who might be described as down on his luck, if only he’d had some luck to begin with. Like so many people in the shadows of Seattle, he’s trying to get by with what he has. In his case, that includes a lively spirit, a sadly diminished magical talent, quick wits, and good knowledge of the twists and turns of Seattle’s dingy streets and back alleys.

Publisher's Summary
This electrifying novel set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077 follows a group of strangers as they discover that the dangers of Night City are all too real.
In sparkling Night City, a ragtag group of strangers have just pulled off a heist, robbing a convoy transporting a mysterious container belonging to Militech. The only thing the group has in common is that they were blackmailed into participating in the heist—and they have no idea just how far their mysterious employer's reach goes, or the purpose of the artifact they stole.
This newly formed gang—composed of a veteran turned renegade, a sleeper agent for Militech, a computer nerd, a therapist, a ripperdoc, and a techie—must learn how to overcome their differences and work together, lest their secrets be unveiled before they can pull off the next deadly heist.

Manages to nail the setting while missing the tone
performance was mostly great. there were a few instances of it seeming overly drab and disinterested but in general I have no problems there. this review will imply spoilers at the end, so be warned.
the story is disjointed and chaotic, and that may be by design. in general it did a decent job and kept a decent pace. a knowledge of night city and cyberpunk going into the book made listening to it feel like sliding into something familiar and comfortable.
however, while the setting was on point, the tone missed a crucial component of cyberpunk, the one thing that truly separated it from grimdark in its essence.
**spoilers implied from here on out**
cyberpunk is a dark narrative but it always leaves the smallest of margins open for hope, and it's at its foundation a setting that focuses on the smallest of victories found within survival. this book ended without any of that. no hope, no small victories, no survival.

Great voice over and an okay story - good for fans of the game
Cherami Leigh who read it is absolutely fantastic! I dove into this just after finishing Cyberpunk game as female V and was so excited to hear the same voice again!
Like some ending of the game, the ending of this book is not satisfying, although true to the world. I was expecting to read about some resemblance of a hero journey and when that didn't happen I was disappointed but also curious enough to see how everything would unfold.

Great story but had loose ends.
Absolutely love the cyberpunk universe and this story did a really good job at holding onto the tone and themes of the universe. The characters in this story were interesting and memorable for the most part but there were some I had to go back and remind myself about to continue. My biggest disappointment was that a couple of characters were left off without enough detail to really understand their origins or purpose in the story and some were forgotten about and left without a conclusion. Besides that the twists and turns were really enjoyable and I hope they make more!

Definitely Worth It
Great performance and twisting story. Was hooked completely from beginning to end. Quite a lot of revelations and connecting moments that will make it worthwhile reading a second time with these new perspectives and information in mind. Some reviews call the story disjointed, it's not; this is a tight, information-dense story that doesn't constantly spell things out, so you'll miss a lot if you're just passively listening.

good story, no vocal range
the narrator has an iconic and solid voice for VA work. this however does not lead to great narrative voice range. can only vary her voice so much, which is normal but not great for audiobooks.
either way it's a well done job with a good story, just hard to tell who is saying what at times, or what is narrative vs speech

It was okay.
I so badly wanted to love this book. But I struggled to finish it.
But unfortunately, it just fell short.
The story was all over the place. I wish each chapter contained a title to simply tell us which character we were following. It felt like it jumped all over the place. It almost felt rushed when it was written.
Now, I love the voice actor for her performance in the cyberpunk videogame. However, because there were so many voices, they started to drown out and become very similar. So it made it very difficult to tell who was who.

Hard to finish or keep interested
The voice performance was ok, but that’s about it…
Uninteresting characters, and I kept zoning out because of a very uninteresting story.
