Publisher's Summary

Have you ever felt like there was something inside of you pushing your actions? A dormant beast, so to speak. I know it sounds crazy.

But, that’s the best way I could describe how I’ve felt for a long time. I thought it was normal, some animal part of the human brain that lingered from evolution. But, this is the story of how I learned I wasn’t exactly human, and there was a world underneath our own where all the things that go bump in the night live. And, that my beast was very real indeed.

Of course, my first steps into this new unknown world are full of problems. I didn’t know the rules, landing me on the wrong side of a werewolf pack and in a duel to the death with a smug elf.

But, at least, I have a few new friends in the form of a dark elf vampiress and a kitsune assassin as I try to figure out just what I am, and more importantly, learn to control it.

Good story looking forward to the next

It’s a good story and I am looking forward to listening to the other books in this series. The narrators are also top tier as well which really can make or break and audio book but these 2 always nail it

Looking forward to book 2!

Better quality than I expected for the genre. I wasn't particularly surprised throughout the plot, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Exactly the mix of fun I wanted! Story, spice, and enough curiosity to want more.

another story that Ijust can't be beat

so far a bit odd but I am loving it. I'm way too into these lit RPG paranormal world style books. but the male voice actor doesn't quite have a few of the voices perfected but one of them he has down almost sounds like The voice actor for Kronk from the emperor's New groove.

story and characters are fairly well developed. a few times feels a little fast but it's understandable. when You have a legendary last name as like the main character. You are going to have to expect a wild magical time and definitely not a little soppy love a story.
I have read and listened to a number of Bruce's books and I have yet to find any real fault with them. For the genre that they are they are great.

perfect books to listen to for a shift out on the road on your own. or with your better half as some of the situations like normal can be a little steamy. but again I love it.

amazing

Great naration like always by actors everywhere. The story itself is nothing complicated so far, the romance part is childish sometime, but overall nice.

Dragons and myths

Such a great book, in all honesty it was my first audiobook and it completely hooked me, the humor and suspense of what was to happen next kept me engaged and want to hear more and find out what was going to happen next

A guilty pleasure, but a good one

I don't normally like to admit that I like harem stories, because they're such a male fantasy and because they're mostly awful. So when I finally gave in to temptation and bought one, I tried to find one that sounded like it would at least be a well written male fantasy. And I did.

This book has the makings of a harem series, but it makes sense within the world the author has created. The main character is a humble, kind young man who suddenly gains powers and muscle that he didn't expect - the manifestation of his heritage as one of the rarest and most powerful supernatural creatures, a dragon.

The characters are interesting and mostly likeable, although the main bad guy is a little too two dimensional. The voice acting is incredible - the characters are all distinctive, and it's nice to have a male and female voice actor to play the different roles. My favorite is Detective Fox, who somehow sounds exactly like Kronk from the Emperor's New Groove.

The plot itself is fast paced and interesting, leaving you wanting to hear more in the series. The harem elements are slow (the only sex scene is near the end) and somewhat understandable, although it would be nice if the girls didn't seem quite as interested in him from day one and had more build up. But by the end of the book, he is still only dating one girl - but with the door left open for more.

I just wanted to read something light while going through a lot of stress and figured I'd waste a credit. I found myself enjoying the book far more than I expected, so I'm owning up to my own embarrassing little secret and telling people that this one was worth it.
