Story
As a sci-fi author with a hit TV show, I have a few ideas about what alien invaders are supposed to look like. In my stories, they’re technologically advanced monsters, with tentacles, and no faces. Turns out I was right about the technology. And about how angry they’d be. But the way they look…that’s more terrifying than even I could have imagined. They look exactly like us. Because they are us.

Story
In a world full of super powers, Felix has a pretty crappy one. He has the ability to modify any item he owns. To upgrade anything. Sounds great on paper. Almost like a video game. Except that the amount of power it takes to actually change, modify, or upgrade anything worthwhile is beyond his abilities. With that in mind, Felix settled into a normal life. A normal job. His entire world changes when the city he lives in is taken over by a super villain. Becoming a country of one city. A city state.

In one word, INCREDIBLE
Rick partlow is amazing at creating a world that draws you in with action and dramatic twists and he doesn’t hold his punches. People he makes you care about will die. One of the best sci fi writers I’ve ever had the pleasure of listening to and an amazing narrator to go along with it.

Excellent series
Characters and story are very engaging. Narration was very good. I am not a high sci fi fan but this series is much more than that and the explanation of the tech is just enough.

Sci-fi at its finest
This collection of books is very good. The characters are engaging and show growth, so you really care about them. It balances the harsh reality of war through drama, action and trauma, spiced up with some grimdarkness here and there. A must listen!

Good military sci-fi
This 4 book set was well worth the money. A continuation of the Holy Wars series but told from a different perspective. Good characters and story. Narrator told a story rather than read a book to you.
There’s more than 4 books however you can read these 4 books and feel like you finished the story.

It has it's ups and downs.
Not a terrible listen and it held my attention. The main character does tend to whine a bit for my taste. Suck it up and get the job done or wallow in self doubt and follow the guy in front. Pick one.
The story falls back on the military novel cliche that politicians and incompetents run the military. Sad that so many stories slide into that mud pit. The best stories are where capable and competent people fight through a tough situation to come out on top. Let's face facts. If the organization wasn't coordinated and the troops capable, they would probably not win the day.
